Anthony | Can you deposit a check into your bank account at a different bank (one where you do not hold an account)? |
Is it possible to walk into a Bank of America, for example, and ask them to deposit your check into your Wachovia bank account? If so, how many days does it usually take to clear/process and are there usually any other fees or anything else I should be aware of? |
|

No. You can't do that. |

YOU CAN'T DO THAT - YOU DON'T HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH WACHOVIA - They won't even take the check |

Unless they are connected I doubt that they would do it. You need to find a branch of your Bank and go there. |

No - it is not possible.
What you need to become aware of is that you are incredibly ignorant of simple daily commerce.
You need to figure out what you don't know and learn it. |

No.
If you have a Bank of America account, you can make a deposit at any branch. But if your account is at Wachovia, you need to go to a Wachovia branch. |

You can't even deposit your check at an ATM of your own bank that is not at a branch - like those BA ATM's in convenience stores. |

I do this with my account at EverBank.com. I deposit into an ATM machine near my home of another bank. 5 minutes later I'm home and the deposit is in my account.
The clearing process is the same as depositing it in my bank.
We love it & we get 3.41% APY on top of it. Plus we get fee free ATM drafts (up to $6 a month on non Everbank ATM drafts).
Check it out........................
BTW: It's amazing how many wrong answers you got. |

Generally if you don't have an account with them , they won't deal with your check. |

I worked for a bank for several years and we would accept checks for other banks that the corporation owned. We would take the deposit and interoffice mail it to the other bank.
I highly doubt that bank would take a deposit for a bank that they don't own. Businesses, especially banks, don't want to support their competitors. |

I work at a Credit Union as an officer and used to work at a bank as a teller, and more people then you think really think you can do this... Its not a dumb question, its just you have never been educated on the subject. Your not the only one to ask this... Credit Unions have "credit union service centers" that they can belong to and a lot of different credit unions partner with them so all over the US you can use the CUSC.... I dont actually know if there is a Banking service Center that does the same, and if your bank is a partner with them if there is...... But it may be something to look into... See if they are partnered with any other banks that will accept checks to deposit into accounts drawn off their name.
But to answer your question, NO you have to go to your Bank to deposit, Mail it in, or put it in a night drop, or deposit to an ATM that accepts your deposits for credit. Do know that if you deposit to an ATM only the first $100 will be available and the rest will be on hold, it is up to the banks descretion to drop off the hold.... Good Luck.... |

You can endorse your check over to a third party (family member or friend) who does have an account with the bank. You write "pay to the order of (insert friend's name here)" on the back sign it. They sign it below that endorsement and deposit the check in to their account. They can give you the funds when the check clears. I have done this for friends before. The amount of the check, the type of check (personal, business, or government), whether or not it is a local check, and the funds availability schedule of their bank will all determine how long it takes for the funds to become available. |

Only if the bank is partners, or they were bought out by another bank. but other than that, i dont think so. |

No you cannot deposit the check for sure, however, you can cash your check out. They will give you cash back as per the amount of your check, and yes they will charge some amount of fees. not with bank of america, you will have to go to a specific bank for that. |
