Yes, generally you can deposit money orders into a checking account. There is a great deal of fraud connected with money orders though and the bank might refuse you unless you have had an account with them for a while and have an average balance equal to or greater than the money order amount. If your friend sends a bank money order rather than one purchased at a convenience store, the chances of acceptance are greater. Reason is - lots of money orders are stolen and there is greater security around bank money orders. |

Yes, a money order is as good as cash, but with a number to cancel it if it gets lost. The bank should not even hold the funds like they do with checks (although some will). |

yes you can but be very careful unless its someone you trust because there is a scam going on with fake money orders. they well send you a m.o. and have you deposit it and then send them money and then the m.o. turns out to be no good. |
