i am with halifax and would like to apply 4 one any information or tips xxx

How's your credit rating?

If it's fine, or you're just getting one, it should be ok.

Say it is for a car or something to that effect. Don't say 'Well I want 500 quid to party non-stop for a month'

If you're credit rating is ok, a bank would be more than happy to give you a loan as they make money from it.

Be careful though. I started with a loan of 600 quid, lost my job and basically screwed my chances of getting anything on credit again.

Also, if you apply and get refused, it knocks your credit rating down a bit.

It might be easier getting an overdraft

You can apply to raise your overdraft at anytime.

The Mentor
Depends on what you want to use it for and what you have for collateral. Car loans are different than personal loans, debt consolidation, home etc. Sounds like you want a personal loan and for that amount you won't need collateral, just proof that you have been at your job for awhile and lived at the same address for more than 2 years. Might be easier to get a credit card if you don't meet their criteria.

loans are bad they give money but then you go without it from your next paycheck and you pay interest.
its not good to start borrowing the best way is to save.

if it is an emergency a overdraft extension is probably you best bet and the easiest to do.

yes u can, allow with very high interest, i would say get a credit card with 12mths 0% interest if u can then pay it back within the year , therefore you will pay no interest :D

Depends on your credit score? how long you have been with them? Have you kept your account in good order? Do you work? Best thing to do is make an appointment to see them.

Jim
The Halifax will only give you a loan of £1,000 and above. However there are companies out there who are prepared to give you a loan of £500. Your overdraft shouldn't be a problem and you could use part of the loan to pay it off because you should get a better interest rate with a loan.

Good Luck.
