yes most banks do this and many give you something for free just for opening an account like free checks or ive gotten a free sweatshirt from my college also have gotten a free radio before....just go to the bank you want to bank with and ask also most banks have a sign out front that says "Free Checking" !!
reason it is usually free is because they want you to open one and put money in it because they can use your money and they dont have to pay you any interest for that money |

You bank does that but you need to have a good deal of money in the checking account at all times. Some banks require a minimum of $1000 at all times and if you ever go under that, then they start charging you fees.

There is usually a minimum deposit depending on the type of checking account you open (anywhere between $50 and $10,000). I would check out a credit union. When I joined mine, I got a free checking acount with no minium balance and a free box of check. However, some credit unions have membership requirements, so call ahead. |

Yes you can, I did it... Some banks will come up w/ creative ways to get new customers. It all depends on the bank, some will charge a fee, some will not.. My bank actually put in $25 on my account just for opening it and does not charge me any type of monthly fee, as long as the balance remains over $100- NO FEE!!! Shop around and wait for the good deals. |
