no, you can deposit whatever you want into any account as long as you know the account number or the persons name and probably address. I work at a bank and the only rule we have is we can't give you the receipt after the deposit if you're not an account holder. You can even mail in the deposit and write a note saying what account to deposit it in (including persons name, address, and acct number, or fill out a deposit slip if you have one. It'd be smart to include a contact phone number also in case the bankers cant locate the account. What happens after this is the bankers will mail the account holder the receipt based on the address on file. |

All the above answers are TECHNICALLY CORRECT... However, your question asked if this can be done WITHOUT THEM KNOWING!!!...
At the deposit stage, yes, you can just pay the money into their account (if you know the a/c number and sort code), either over the counter at a branch of their bank, or direct to their bank by sending a cheque in the post, or by doing a bank transfer or internet bank transfer from your account to theirs, and they will be none the wiser.
HOWEVER... They will find out about it when they get their STATEMENT which will show as a DEPOSIT, with the date and amount. If they wanted to, they could ask their bank for a copy of the deposited cheque, or the details of the account the money came from, and would find out who the money was from. One solution would be to pay it in by cash. As long as it was under a certain amount the bank wont ask for your details. (I believe it is under about £3000, and this is to prevent money laundering)
Hope that answers your question fully for you. |

For the most part, yes.
You are, however, still under restriction regarding the amount of money deposited. A large sum will draw the attention of the government (in the U.S. the break point is $10,000). Has a lot to do with money transfer, laundering and anti-terrorism... |

Everyone else is pretty much right. Anyone can dump any amount into anyone's account. They just obviously cannot take it out. |

you will need their fulll name, sort code and acc number. you will also need a paying in slip in which the bank usially can provide in the branch. |

Anyone can deposit money in to pretty much any account, you just need the account number.
The answer is yes. You can do this, and no, the bank account owner does not need to sign. You may have to though.
Also the cheque will have to be in the name of the account holder. |

Step aside, look away, wipe that look of your face. |

as long as you write "for deposit only" on it then it can be deposited into their account no problem. But you do also have to have their account number on it. |
