The quick answer to your question is yes you can purchase a house and give it to anyone you desire. Are you thinking about giving the house to a family member?
The reality of the matter is that you must consult a tax or CPA and especially a real estate attorney to find out the easiest way to do this and what you should do to avoid a very difficult potential tax problem.
If nothing else the CPA or tax expert is probably the most important person in this situation.

Lots of different ways to go with this one. I'll assume it is a family member. There is a limit in the amount of $$$ you can gift in a year before that family member would have to include the value of the house as taxable income. |

Sure, that would be a wonderful gift. I have known of some churches purchasing properties to give to some of their members who weren't able to afford a home on their own. I dont think theres anything legal about it. Same thing goes with purchasing a car for someone as a gift.
I know if someone offered to buy me a home i would really be blessed. Blessings come in all sorts of shapes sizes and forms. |

yes, you can do this but there will be a gift tax associated with this, either you or the reciepiant will have to pay this, it is based on a percentage of the fair market value of the home, and the percentages vary state by state and in some states county/perish by county/perish. |
