Yes, you can be paid.
However your business teacher was dead wrong. There's no way you'll make anywhere CLOSE to 5-150 a day, let alone an hour. You get paid on commission. Each survey you take will pay you X cents or dollars, and so it's hardly hourly or anything like that - but even if you do it "full time" you won't make that much.
Since you're 14, if you're just looking for some spare money to buy video games or junk food here and there surveys are absolutely a great way to go. If you're looking for a serious income, you might want to think about getting a part time job somewhere else. Though, if you combine surveys WITH a part time job as I do, it certainly doesn't hurt!
Most survey websites require that you be at least 18.
http://opinioncrate.tk/ is probably your best bet because you only need to be 13.

I've done paid surveys for quite a while now. But you need to sign up to a few at a time to keep the surveys coming so you always have surveys to do when you are ready. If you only sign up to one, chances are you won't always have a survey waiting for you when you have time to take them. Also, DO NOT PAY to get access to any membership or site in order to take surveys, as the legitimate survey sites are all free, you just need to find them.

You might get one focus group a year (max) at $20 - 75. You might get a buck or two here and there if you do enough surveys for a reputable research firm. Most of them pay in "points" you can redeem for merchandise. Do not get involved in anything where you have to "complete offers" or you will go broke. If you do several surveys per week, you can realistically net $10-12/year. "Secret shoppers" might net a couple bucks per assignment. It sounds good to say "$5 - 150/hr" but you aren't likely to get more than an hour a week, and those peak rates happen so rarely you cannot count on anything at all. |

yes you can get paid to do legitimate market research surveys, but it's not a full time job, making 150 dollars an hour for 8 hours a day just doesn't happen. Work a real job for your main source of income if you can, but you can do surveys for extra spending cash.
other things you can do are like "get paid to" surveys which are kind of like answering "yes/NO" to a bunch of offers, you can make a good amount of cash doing this in your spare time while at home which is nice for some people
secret shopping is another way of getting paid for surveys and getting reimbursed for things you would buy anyway.

Yes you can although you need to have a look around for the legit companies that pay the most per survey and just do a ton of them to make any real money.
If you combine writing with data entry and survey writing you can make good money.
