When i was 10 i got a new bmx bike, it was $132.00 and it was average to low end for the time.
27 years later (last week) i bought a bmx bike for my nephew, it is medium to low end and it was $140.00.
So accounting for inflation a very comparable item has actually gone down in price over 27 years, not just 4. A $132 in 1979 would be $394.09 in today's dollars. |

I'm not sure there is a whole lot that hasn't gone up in price. Things like kindness, common sense, memories, etc obviously are the same, but I'm guessing you mean actually items.
Paper is still pretty cheap, like plain old computer paper. Old things sold at garage or tag sales are still very inexpensive, although people do charge a little more sometimes. The Internet (only at libraries usually or any other place that offers it) and books from libraries are still the same price, free. I'm thinking pretty much everything else has gone up, but that's just my opinion. |
