3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM
IS $30, SO
EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.
A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS
ONLY $25,
SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5. ON
THE WAY THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW
TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY
BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR HIMSELF.
THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL
OF$27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.

Answer: The dollar has gone nowhere. the $2 the boy has taken for himself has to be DEDUCTED from $27 the three men paid which equals the total the hotel holds, not added. |

Never been good with maths but my wife is so good. But if this is not mathematical, then let me attempt it.
Tom, John and Mike paid P30. Then they are given P5 change through the bell boy but the bell boy gives them P3 back which means they have paid P28. We add P3 to the P25 not substract from the P30.Then the bell boy keeps the P2. I dont know if i make sense but there is no money missing.

Initially the men paid $30 for a $30 room.
But after they received $1 back each ($3), cost of room $25 and bellboy pocketed $2 = $30.
The last statement should be 'This meant that the 3 men each paid $9 for the room, which is a total of $27 for a $25 room. The difference of $27-$25 = $2 was kept by the bellboy'. |

There is no other dollar. The 3 men paid $30 originally, then they were reimbursed $5, they gave $2 to the bell boy and kept $1 each which is $3 so they each paid $9 and got $1 back, it's $30 total. |

There is no 1 dollar missing. Initailly each man pay $10, total is $30. After the bell boy returned them 1 dollar each, they each paid $9, total is $27. Out of this $27, $25 keep by the man behind the desk, $2 keep by the bell boy. The $30 is just there to make you confused. |

Stop it! Stop it! Stop it I tell you!!! You're making my head hurt with this kind of puzzle right now. I'm tired and can't think of mathematical 'stuff' right now, and I just don't know. I'd rather give the bellboy another dollar out of my own pocket just to make it all come out even so I don't have to figure out any more of this problem. If you want the dollar I'll give it to you.
