Think about the last time you replaced your brake pads. If it's been more than a year and you do a lot of street driving as opposed to highway driving, then you probably need to change the pads and just the pads, plus rotate the rotors to smooth them out. Give it a few more weeks, it may be just dirt that is causing the squeak.
Go to an autoparts store and find out how much the pads to your car costs. Labor should cost about about 1 1/2 to 2 hours of labor, which is usually $65/hr maybe a little more, but around there. |

more then likely, brake pads actually have a little tab of steel on them and when the pad wears down enough it will drag on the rotor causing a squeak. |

You should take it to the store and check. Do you have to press on your brakes really hard to stop. Sometimes it just needs greasing. Make sure the person shows you that the pad is low and needs to be changed. Could be damaging your rotors if you dont change bad brake pads. |

yes, squeaking is your brakes way of telling you the are ready to be changed.. but if you just replaced your brakes then they probably didn't grind the edges |

You can go cheap and just replace the pads. The best would be to have the rotors/drums turned so that you have a smooth surface and better stopping power.
Without turning, your new pads could still start making noise. |

The manufacturers have a sound like this that is activated when the brakes need to be replaced. Check it out. |

Resurface the rotors and check your break pads, look for any abnormalities in that area, depending the last time you checked youre breaks, that should give you an idea if they need servicing or not..check the calipers etc. take it to Midas if you have no clue about cars. |

If it sounds like metal to metal , you are ready for a break job. |

No, just tell the man who services your car and go from there! |
