Child Support?
If I marry my fiance will I ahve to help pay support for his child from another woman...if this is the case I won't marry him b/c I did not concieve this child and have my own so my money should go to her not some other womans kid.

we don't even get to see her...but maybe once every 6 months. I would be willing to buy he clothes and all of her needs while she is at my home, but i dont feel i should have to give up my money so she can take trips and buy clothes for herslef which is what she does with his money now because we saw her once and she told us she wears her mothers hand me downs and shes always alone...we'd like custody..id b willing to pay fro her if she lived with us...but i am not financing someone elses fun. It's not that I wouldn't take care of her just not when shes not with me...if shes with me I know my money is going towars things for her...got it
Additional Details
I love his child...and i pay for her when shes with us...its not tht i dont love her i just dont want my money to go to a woman who doesnt spend the money she gets on her child...i know the money he pays will b taken away from the household that doesnt bother me he should pay for his child...but i shouldnt pay for her unless she is with us...if i pay for her i want to know my money is going to her and the only way tthat happens is when she is with us

Sorry hun, child support is a fact of life when parents divorce. I don't like it either, but it happens.

Try to fight for custody of her, then maybe that will ease the burden on you guys.

check the child support worksheets and orders in the court system for your local area. that will tell u if the current spouse's income gets added in to determine child support amounts to be paid.
in my state, it is included in the docs but not included in the calculation. they just must declare all income in the house that contributes to paying the bills. in case he would claim "hardship" then the judge could determine if you made enough for it not to be a hardship.

Talk to a lawyer - it varies by state. You shouldn't have to, but it's worth spending $150 on to get a professional opinion on how to proceed and/or protect yourself.

Don't worry they will take the child support from his wages not yours. So I won't really worry so much. I can relate to what your going through. When a child support order is in the father then he must pay, because nowhere in the documents is your name.

You don't have to pay for the child support but you boyfriend does. They cannot take you money but they can take a joint tax refund if it is both of your names if he is behind.

He NNNNEEEEDDDSSS to pay to support the kid that he fathered n o matter what

You are not responsible for his child support. The only way it could affect you is if he owes back child support. They take this from the federal income taxes. If you two file together, you will get a form to sign so they can take that money. I had that happen to me, but I never signed the form. I was fairly ticked off about them taking money that was mine also. I would definitely check into this.

Hello,

I've been through the same thing with my fiance'. No, you don't have to pay for child support if you married your fiance'. Just be sure to keep seperate checking accounts because if he gets behind on child support payments, the friend of the court will put a hold on the account, no matter who else is on it, and they will withdraw the amount (or a % if others are on the account) and you will not be abe to make banking transactions until the account is clear again. That is a nightmare in itself to get them to open it up again.

And yes, none of the child support goes to his daughter. It's all going to the mother. His daughter lives in her basement with 5 other kids from different dads. They have no computers and just mattresses on the floor. She is supposed to be giving the daugher money for college, but that will never happen.

No its not your responsibility. And my husbands ex he pays 586 per month for 2 kids and he only makes 1400 a month. she refuses to work. And she does have fun on his money. She gets HUD so she dosent have rent or utilities. She gets a medical card so no doctor expenses. She gets food stamps so no foof expense. She dosent drive her grandmother takes her everywhere so no gas. And the kids get a state clothing allowance. We buy all of their school supplies and stuff like that. She just buys drugs so they can go have fun on it. If I were you I would fight for custody we are.

No, you do not have to pay on children that are not yours. That's his reasponsability. Just because your getting married doesnt matter because they are not your kids, their his so he has to pay.

no your money does not go to her. his wages can be garnished. not yours. joint income tax returns can be taken however for any arrears due. please don't take this wrong. i am not trying to be mean. just honest. truth be told, the money he pays for support should not be something you or him should be concerned about.
as long as she has a roof over her head(no matter how shabby) clothes on her back (new or used) food in her belly. a bed to sleep in, heat and electricity for her. then his money is being spent well. mom cant tell him what to feed her or how to dress her or how to live or whether or not he can take a vacation why should he get to tell her? it is a fact that non custodial parents pay less than 50% of the cost of raising a child. so the custodial has to make up the difference. that takes away from her earned income. the money that could have been used to take a vacation had she not had to pay part of his share too. make any sense to you yet? you are not financing her fun. she is financing her own. he is merely paying a portion of what it takes to raise a child. the court has taken an expense report from both of them. deducted the extra frivolous spending and determined the cost of raising her. then takes a percentage of his wage based on his income. not on the actual amount it REALLY takes. i have been on both ends of paying and receiving child support. if WE felt that his daughter did not get the exact dollar amount spent on her that WE sent then WE were ok with her mom taking a piece for herself. after all she is the one that took her to school. got up in the nights when she was sick. took her to her appointments and all the other mom things. she deserved it. she raised her more than half. it cost her more than half.
if you feel she is being abused or neglected and doing without the neccesities (new clothes are not neccesary. used are fine) then you should try for custody. when mom is ordered to pay support you will see what i mean. and unless you are doing comepletely seperate finances and splitting your bills 50-50 with him then be prepared. it eventually does come from you too. if you can, put your heart into it. when you get married it is WE.

how often you see the child (visitation) has nothing to do with child support; they are totally two different issues and handled as such.

keeping extra clothing at your house is a good idea; just to avoid arguements.

FUN? who is living large on child support??
you pay what? 400? 600? 900? (BFD)

ok, lets see...
rent; 1000
electric 300
food 400-600
diapers 75-150 per month (fluctuates when baby is sick or teething)
heat 300
phone/cable 100
auto; (for doctors, dentists, take to school when they miss the bus, pick up when sick, pick up medicines, get food) 200
clothing/shoes/boots 200-400 every 2 to 3 months (seasonal and they grow)

that doesnt even include dental, doctors, glasses, daycare, hair cuts, school supplies, school lunches, school projects, class trips, class pictures, over the counter medicines, prescriptions, laundry det, dish det, cleaners, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, christmas, easter, halloween, tooth fairy, birthdays, etc. and sooo much more.

in my house, the children go through 1 gallon of milk per day; thats $3.50x30... almost $100 a month in milk alone... and thats JUST MILK.

if you see her taking trips, it isnt with 'support money', its hers, for the support money DOESNT EVEN COVER food and school expenses. if he still cant grasp that, tell him...
try calling 1-800- I CANT ADD

i cant believe your stupid enough to buy that crap... that the support is being used for her "fun".

add gf, add.

NO ONE is living large off of child support, except movie stars.
