Hi there, I have got myself into quite a bit of debt and would like to know if anybody knowes of any good debt management companies.
I don't want to get another loan to consolidate it, I just want to pay as much off as possible through monthly payments or try and get some written off.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

to get any written off you will have to opt for an IVA
Debt managmetn firms will charge you a monthly fee ontop of your monthly payments to your creditors
try CAB they offer a debt managment with no monthly fee

Hi,
Just to let you know that my partner and I have been looking into this particular route and it appears there is no such thing as a "good" debt management company. Their staff work on commission - which should give you an idea of how they work. You can get the same service for free from CAB. They've been excellent with us and will give you a far more impartial service. Best of luck. |

dont give the bastards nothing. declare yourself bankrupt instead. might seem extreme but it means in a years time you start with a clean slate. all debt management companies are out to screw the consumer. notice how they all offer 6 year re-payment packages? that's because after 6 years debts are written off by law. CAB will tell you better than me I'm no expert and dont get me wrong I'm not out to screw any bank or loan company but trust me they did the equivalent of me dropping the soap in prison and being buggered. |

Debt management is just an arrangement to make smaller payments it can take years this way. Go to cccs consumer credit councelling service and they will give free advice on an iva or bankrupcy. A lot depends how much you owe and to how many you owe it and your income. Also look at the forum on ivainfo.co.uk they will answer all questions on there. |

Debt Management companies are a rip off. You are much better off if you take care of the situation yourself. I recommend you get the book "Total Money Makeover" by Dave Ramsey. He is really good at getting you out of debt and working toward financial Independence.
Also, realize that you need to stop living beyond your means, or as Dave says, "Act your wage!" Good luck my friend. It is much easier to bury yourself in debt than it is to get back out. There is no quick fix, just like there is no get rich quick programs. |

Do it yourself...approach the lenders and tell them you are having problems and arrange to re negotiate the loan and as long as you pay something they will usually agree rather than get nothing at all...so make a plan yourself and put it to the lenders...will save you money in the end. |
