Clever ways to save money and be eco friendly? ?

Margarita C
There are several ways, here are a few we took up in my home this past year that are working:
-using sports bottles (instead of buying water bottles)
-having a hand towel in the kitchen (reduced our usage of paper towels dramatically)
-using a wipe down rag (instead of cleaning with paper towels)
-walking or biking when possible, instead of using the car
-make a conscience effort to use a little less toilet paper

I might have more to add later...

Dry your clothes outside on a clothes line (if possible) instead of using your dryer. Or you can even hang a line in your garage if it is not nice outside.

SAVE MONEY:
-Dont eat out. Its not good and it sucks in your money VERY quickly.
-Put first things first. These need to be attended to. These are bills, necessities, etc.
-Put some money in a savings account every month. It can be five dollars or five thousand dollars but at least its something, right?

ECO FRIENDLY:
-Energy saving lightbulbs. Sure, theyre pricy, but they last longer and do a lot of good.
-RECYCLE! This is a big one. Find a local recycling facility near you. Even if you dont get money from it, you're doing some good.
-Un-plug when not being used. Objects like a toaster, a radio, a lamp, etc. should be unplugged when not being used frequently. Even though they arent turned on they are still using electricity and it doesnt make sense to run up the bill by NOT using something right? Things like the toaster should just be unplugged when not in use. It saves energy.
-Pick it up even if its not yours. See a piece of trash in your yard? Take care of it. Its not that hard to do one simple thing.

Just do what is right with money and eco-wise.
Believe me, it pays.

Use compact fluorescent bulbs
If you are going to be away from your house for more than a day unplug large appliances like your computer, TV, etc
Get a water filter and don't buy bottled water
Take your recyclables to the recycling center
Shop at thrift shops and buy used when you can (I've gotten so much great pyrex for super cheap from Goodwill I'll never buy it from the department store again!)
Embrace vinegar - it is a great cleaner
Use old mayo, pickle, and spaghetti sauce jars to store left overs instead of ziploc bags
Use cloth diapers (even getting a diaper service is cheaper than disposable diapers)
Coast to redlights - don't use the gas to get there. Why be in a hurry to get to the intersection and stop?

Knowitall
only buy used

Don't use standby on electrical applicances.
Drive with an eye on the fuel gauge. If you constantly brake you are wasting fuel let the vehicle slow down rather than brake to slow.
Don't wash less than a full load of clothes or dishes.
Dry clothes outside in the sunshine rather than in an electric dryer.
Walk more instead of driving everywhere.
Don't throw edible food away. In UK each household throws away a third of all the food we buy and I believe it's the same in USA. So save money by only buying what you know you'll be able to eat.
Don't buy bottled water when tap water will quench your thrist just as well. If you must then buy the one from closest to your home. It is ridiculous to buy water from other countries that has to be transported across the planet!
Use both sides of the paper and recycle it when its been used all over.
Buy recycled and secondhand goods where ever possible.

Buy a water filter. Saves money and the environment.

Grow your own food and/or herbs. It doesn't take a lot of room (or land). If you do it organically, you're saving the environment as well.

Collect aluminum cans and you can make money by selling them.

Unplug appliances when you're not using them.

HHO fuel producer you can make it yourself and save gas money. checkout ebay HHO tower. Or see it on youtube

Eat me!
buy a water filter instead of plastic bottles.

Make your own laundry soap, house cleaners and dish soap....super easy.

walk instead of drive if it is a short distance.

if you have room, you can grow your own veggies and fruits.
