Graduated last year and now i have over 10k in credit card overdraft debt!! What's the best way of getting rid of this that doesn't badly effect the credit of everyone at my address. And repayment obviously isn't a great option. I also got 12k in student debt waiting for me iif i ever start earning more then 15k

Okay, first of all forget consolidation. Getting a consolidation loan basically tells lenders that you are a pathetic money manager and that you don't deserve their money or their time -- It's like a big sign saying "I suck. Don't give me a loan for the rest of my life". So stay away from consolidation if you ever want to buy a house or something.

Get all your debts together, and see if you can transfer some of the debt onto credit cards with lower rates. That reduces the interest of the overall debt burden. You should rank the debts from highest to lowest interest rate, not balance. It is the interest rate that is costing you, so kill off the ones with the highest rates first. Attack the highest rate card with extra payments while making minimum repayments on the other cards. That will be the most efficient use of your time and money. Mathematically, you will save the most amount of money and time doing it this way. Don't look at the amounts, just the interest rates.

You need to repay the debts. You need to consider a second or third job to generate some income while you kill off the debt. You need to make some sacrifices. Dont' eat out, and always take your lunch from home, rather than buying it out. That will save you a fortune. Set goals to pay the debts off.

The debt won't go away if you bury your head in the sand. So get rid of it so you can start living your life the way you want to, not the way some finance company wants you to -- as their slave.

Go to your library and get out a few books on personal finance. They are full of great tips for people in your situation. Best of all, it's free. If you get them back to the library on time, that is.

Best wishes

First I'd try to negotiate for a lower interest rate if that's possible ! Secondly I'd also try to pay as much monthly as I could afford. Since you have $10,000 I'd say at least $200 per month should be your goal. That's $2,400 per year which would take you around 4 years to pay it off !

Good luck !

Focus on paying your debt off. This means no extras special things for yourself AT ALL! Pay off the debt that has the highest interest rate off first. If you can transfer your balances to accounts with lower interests rates do it!

i agree on consolidating your debt like the previous person mentioned....also, try to avoid taking on any extra debt. tear up those credit cards and start saving. you only have 10K in debt, that is relatively low.

so remember,
1. don't take on anymore debt
2. make a budget
3. start a savings

Try using: http://DebtAnswersNow.com

I used their service a couple months back and they consolidated all my debt and lowered my total debt about 25%.

Repayment is the -only- option you have. You need to contact the credit card companies and let them know you're having trouble paying and that you need a lower rate and/or payment plan. Don't be afraid to ask for a supervisor if the first person can't give you what you want. You'll need to buckle down and really work on getting that cleared out, even if it means living in a crappy studio apartment and eating ramen noodle every night until your debt is cleared. Then start working on that student loan since I doubt you'll want to spend your whole life trying to make less than 15k to avoid it.

There are nonprofit credit counselors that can help you negotiate your credit card debt (Or you can negotiate yourself.) Just call the credit card company and ask them to reduce the interest rate etc or something. They often work with people. Also you will find very good advice from Dave Ramsey--http://www.daveramsey.com/

Consolidate into one debt.

Talk them down to the lowest interest payment plan, and work your *** off.
