Throughout the first 2 weeks of January Bank are very lienient with cheques that have the wrong year.
If the cheque was dated 8th April 2006 or 8 June 2006 then it would likely be returned but if dated 8 January 2006 common sense should prevail. |

It will be cashed, I once signed one Mickey Mouse and it still was cashed, No one checks if there is enough money in the account, also for the first couple of weeks they expect this to happen and they overlook it! |

They will return it. The rule of thumb is 6 months. |

Your cheque should be sent back to you |

to be honest i expect it will go through ok - banks are use to people dating the cheque with the wrong year at the start of a new year - the correct length of time for a cheque is 6 months - but it is unlikely that the teller will notice unless the cheque is for a large amount |

I wouldn't worry. Probably happens all the time. I can't imagine anyone looks at the date unless there is an issue brought up by the check writer or check receiver. |

Should be returned!
Might be an idea to write another cheque with correct date on and send it off. simply tell your bank to cancel the original one.
bet thousands of people have done the same thing! |

Depends entirely on the bank, I'm afraid. There is nothing you can do about it, except alert the payee. If this is for a bill, you might want to do that in case they take any precipitate action, like cut your phone off or cancel your credit card. I hope it won't come to that, but calling them shows you are being responsible. |

depending on how strict the bank is. If they have people checking dates then yes it will be returned. If it's automated then no. Good luck. It's a coin toss. |

It shouldn't go through.
But with the banks the way they are today there's a fair chance it will go through.
You've got me worried now about the last cheque I posted! |

Banks no longer consider a postdated check. They cash it. |
