because you go to bed before the clock goes back say 10.30 pm, and the clock goes back one hour at 2 am, and you wake up at 10 am its actually only 9 am, so you get an extra hour in bed. |

Clocks go back an hour, so suddenly it becomes an hour earlier, hence you get an extra hour of sleep/partying/whatever. Also, the time we're leaving is actually called daylight saving time, (not savingS). |

It is supposed to equal out to an extra hour of sleep. I personally think it is a bunch of hooey myself. All it does is make it dark sooner and causes headaches and frustration. |
