I use RBC bank if that makes a difference in the question im asking....
but, you know how you have limits on your debit cards, like $20.00 or $100.00....
does that only apply to you when you are taking that money out of an atm or something, like you can only take out as much as your limit...or does that limit also apply when you use it at a store....that you can only use under your limit..
so if i wanted to buy something for $30.00...i couldnt, cause my limit is 20 on my debit card...
....just wondering.....????? |

well, I can only go off of my personal experience with my own debit cards and bank account. I have B of A and with my account, an ATM will list my available funds, if I am trying to withdraw from the ATM. If this is the case, than I can only withdraw in 20.00 incriments up to the total amount available in my account. Say for instance that I have $334 available in my account, and I want to take it all out without having to see a teller, I can only withdraw in 20.00 incraments so, i could only withdraw $320 total. Now if I'm in a store and I have no clue what my account balance is, I can spend however much I want that is available at that time. For instance, say that I have 15.00 in my account and I want to buy something for 11.00, but earlier in the day I also bought something for 5.00, but that transaction has not completely gone through yet, so my account still shows 15.00 available. I can buy that 11.00 item, but it will overdraft my account once both transactions have been posted to the account and the funds have been transferred from my account. Also, my debit card has a credit line on it which works like a debit but it sort of delays the transaction. I think when you use the credit option on your debit card (like at a fast food place) It just verifies that there is a positive balance in your account even just 1.00 and approves the transaction. That is why it's so easy to overdraft your bank account! |

Debit cards are good up to the last penny you have in your account. If you have $100 in your account, then you can use the card up to $100 in purchases. |

Yes, you have limits. Two kinds: ATM/cash limit and purchase limit. Your limits are usually just what the bank uses for everyone, however, you can call them and say "Can you raise my daily ATM/cash limit, I'm going on vacation", ditto for the purchase limit "Please make my purchase limit 3,000 instead of 1,500"...
You just have to call---you should know what your debit limits are anyway--what if there was an emergency and you needed cash in a hurry? it takes a few days for the bank to raise (lower) your limits, so when you have time, give them a holler. |

you have 2 limits one is for taking out of the bank machine and the other is for interact so say you have a 300 dollar limit you can interact 300 and then take 300 out of the machine. you can not go over your limit with a debt card. i also deal with rbc so it would be the same for you as it is for me. you just have to check and see what your limits are. |

if you have a youth account, i believe by default at rbc the limits are $20 and $100.....
which would mean that you can take up to $20 out every day from the ATM...
and up to $100 transactions... thats in a store when you swipe your card.
so basically, altogether, its up to $120 per day. |

Usually all debit cards have a limit on what you can use for daily purchases in addition to what you can withdrawal from ATMs...depending on the bank/card your limit can vary, 20 seems awfully low!! Who only spends 20 a day!?!

my debit do da same but only at atms i bought 4 twelve inch speakers it came to 4 grand and it went through but i tried to buy a computer with it and dell said i had to call da bank to get it approved. ask nyour bank to up your limit or try to buy what u want id say anythang under5 hun iz ok |

They usually have a different number for cash withdraw vs point of sale. You can call your bank and change those limits if you want. |
