Do I have enough money to survive?
I am 34. I am still live with my mother. I don't have a girlfriend and will never have a girlfriend or get married. I have two jobs - one full time and one part time. I have saved about $150,000, not counting interest accrued. That doesn;t include my checking account, which is about another $11,000.

Do I have enough money to survive for the next few years, in case my jobs?
Additional Details
EDIT

In case I lose my jobs.

Yes. You just have to be very careful with your money and how you spend it. I just hope you have a back up plan in regards to work because that money won't last you a long time.

Well, We Don't Know --
-- How expensive are your appetites? How long to you plan to remain unemployed? Some people can live for many years on $150,000 -others can spend that amount in a week.

It depends on your standard of living and if you plan on moving out of your mothers.

your 34, you've never had a girlfriend?? and you live with your mom. THT IS WEIRD, unless of course your mom has a great sickness..

In a word: Yes.

With $161K I would think you could survive for a while unless your spending is excessive. If your living expenses are $30K a year, then you would survive at least 5 years.

But the bigger concern would be why you would plan to be out of work for a few years and when you plan to go back. And how long do you plan on staying with mom (or how long will she plan on letting you stay?). In short, what is really the plan for your life?

You are well on your way with your savings. Many married couples don't have as much in savings as you have! You should be fine for a while if you lose your jobs. It is recommended that you have six months expenses in liquid accounts. For the balance of your funds, I would see a personal financial planner for advice.

Smartass
you have WAY TOO MUCH to survive as a single man, unless you have dirty habits of drugs and drinking, I can't see why you'd have any problems.

DEPENDS ON WERE YOU live email me and ill help you invest it.

space_case0
I know people that would live on that for an entire life.
it all depends on how you plan on living in the future.
