angelwings | Do I have to legally change my name when I get married? |
My husband has bad credit and I have established good credit I do not want to take on his bad credid |

No of course not. You can keep your name, change it to his or use a combination of both. His credit before he married you will not affect you. Unless it was in your name too. |

No you do not have to change your last name.
But remember, you're still taking on his bad credit. Anything you do jointly (new car, credit card, department store card, house, etc..) will have both credit reports. And if he makes more money than you do, he'll end up the primary.
I know some women who keep separate bank accounts and this does help. |

Nope I have kept my name from my previous marriage for the past 8years.... Hubbie is not too impressed but after changing it the last time i couldn't be bothered with the hassle.
One of my friends kept her maiden name for work and used her married name for home. |

No you don't have to at all, never have. I know a female physician (now deceased) who graduated in the 30s and never took her husband's name, although their son did.
You are not required to have the child have his name either. However, if he should want to change his name to yours, he would have to go through the court system. |

No, you do NOT have to change your name.
However, the name change is not what links you with your husband, regardless of your name. Joint credit will link your records. If you have no joint credit, yoru records will not be linked. |

No you dont. You can keep your combine with a hyphen or you can make up a new name. You can do what ever you like with the last name when you get married isnt that strange? |

No you do not have too, but also when you hyphenate names society has no time for all those names too. I had a hyphenated name and no one ever bothered with the middle name say when calling my name, when sending mail, when at the hospital, bank, so i eventually dropped it.
Just dont open any lines of credit together and you should be good. |
