fear_my_stick | Do I make good money for my age? |
I am a sales engineer for a robotics company. I am 27 (almost 28 years old).... Associates degree and 8 years work experience. I make around 45k a year. (23/hr)
Is this a good wage?
What all do you do and how much do you make?

I would think that is average for your age and someone with a Bachelors degree. Since you only have an associates you are probably making slightly higher than average for your age and qualifications. |

Are you looking for a new job? Is your income not covering your expenses? If everything is good for you (pay your bills, have money for some fun stuff, maybe a bit left over) it doesn't matter if you "make good money" for your age. Whether you like your job or not should be a bigger factor. Plus different jobs pay differently and your area's cost of living is a major factor. |

I'm your age, never finished college, and work in the mortgage industry. I make 38k a year.. so yea, I'd say your doing well :)

Slightly above lower middle class.
Middle class is generally accepted as being between $35,000 to $75,000. Those are the average numbers of all the different studies defining middle class.
Each study has a different result because each study was looking at different elements that make up middle class, thus some were higher, some were lower. |

Anything quantitative is relative. In other words, if you live in Zimbabwe, you are probably the wealthiest person in town. If you live in New York City, you will be struggling and barely be able to support yourself. I live near DC and although I have a fairly significant salary, the cost of housing and everything else in this area is very expensive so money doesn't go as far. |

I guess it depends on what state you're in. My husband makes about 57K as a maintenance mechanic and has no degree. I think you should check out some of the wage comparison websites. |

This is probably a fairly good wage for your age and education. I do not know what the demand for jobs is in that particular area of expertise. I also do not know what state or locale you live in. If you are curious go on line and compare the salaries with some of the jobs similar to what you are doing now. That should give you some comparisons on salaries in your particular field.
It is not particularly a good time to be changing jobs at this time. If you have a good steady job you should hang on to it until the economy is better. |

I am 22 y/o and i build server racks and do software integration and testing on these machines. I make 42k a year (without overtime) and i just started this job a month ago. Also I have no college degree and was a high school drop out.
This is honest, I promise. |

That is very good for your age and is also very good in general considering the economy and the unemployment rate these days!
I am 46 and started off making just $16K at age 27 but now make $94K. It took me almost 20 yrs to get here. (Government employee) |
