This can't be answered with a simple "yes" or "no." It all depends on the bank's policies. I've had my job for well over a year and know a lot of my customers on a first name basis. I do not ask these customers for I.D. because I know them and I know that their I.D. information is already in our system. If I do not recognize the customer, REGARDLESS OF HOW THE PERSON IS DRESSED, I will ask for I.D. |

If it is a branch where you are known by the tellers probably not. If you are not known then yes. |

Yes, and I would NOT bank with banks that don't bother to ID me at all. It is for my protection. |

My bank's ATM asks for a picture ID every time I use it. |

My bank is a small town bank; they have the requirement posted, but know me on sight and do not ask. |

If you go to a teller then yes. From an ATM...no. |

Not if they know you, meaning you frequent the bank and have made nice with a teller.
Otherwise, yes. I wouldn't want to be an account holder at a bank that didn't. |

No not always... if the tellers get to know you and are comfortable with your transaction there is no need to check your id |

No. Not if you use the ATM. Of course, then they just take your picture with the security camera.
If a bank allows someone to withdraw money from an account and it was an unauthorized person, then the bank is responsible for replacing the funds and tracking down the unauthorized person. For this reason, banks will check for I.D. to make sure the right person is withdrawing the money.
Trying to find a way around this is pretty difficult--think of how many people have tried to find a way to get money that wasn't their own from a bank. |

Yes, so they can verify that you are the owner of the account. |

i work at a credit union. we are supposed to ask for id for all transactions. i dont for everyone. some of our members come in 4 or 5 times a week and i know them now. so i dont ask them. it is a good thing. they do it to protect you and your account. |

Not if the amount is small. Every bank has their own policy. If you're trying to get $20, they might not ask for ID; $100+ is another case |

No. I take money out all the time at the walk in teller without showing ID. All I show is my bank card and fill out the withdrawal slip and they hand me my cash.
It depends on how you dress I would assume. If I walked in looking like a thug, they would probably ask for ID. People in business attire are rarely asked for ID. |
