Best is to use black ink which is the hardest to erase because of its natural pigments but you can also use blue without problem.
Color is to avoid, it's a matter of legibility and of politeness too.
Hope I could be of any help. |

Black is preferred. Ink fades after time. Black lasts longer than other colors. In my profession, I have to use black ink for documentation (I am a nurse).
While shopping for my kids' school supplies, I saw a "special ink" pen. It was specifically for writing checks and signing documents. The packaging claimed that common household cleansers could erase common ink, allowing for a person to forge checks/documents. I didn't buy one, but I did stop to think about it! |

Technically, only blue ink and black ink are suppose to be used on a legal document, including checks. But its rarely enforced. |

A certain bank in the Chicagoland area will not accept checks written in any other color than blue or black.... we had a few returned to our place of business and now accept checks only written in blue or black ink. |

Yes, you can write a check in any color you want. I'm sure it would have to be visible. Just dont use the eraseable kind. |

blue and black is suggested. it looks professional i guess. i wouldn't use colored gel pens or something like that. |

You can write a check in black or blue or red, but it can be washed out so I would rather pay cash. |

You don't have to but it's recommended to prevent fraud. |

I think black and blue are the best colors to write in,
NEVER USE RED, it's just a huge no no...
You can use color, it does depend on your school though. |
