yes unless you tell the bank it has gone astray and then some don't charge.Of course anyone else would call it customer service. Banks are rip off merchants they will be charging an entrance fee to go into one soon. |

I take it you have sent a cheque and want to stop it.
I think you will have to pay a fee, you can blag it and say that you lost the cheque and it was blank and see if they will not charge you but they will only get a copy of the chque and see that the signature is legitimate. In that case, they will call you up to verify it and still charge you for stopping it |

baddog is wrong. even if they have lodged it to their account, you have until the day after it is debited from YOUR account to place a stop on it (usually 3.30pm the following banking day). This will cost about £10. However, if it wasn't crossed and they present it at your branch for cash then you can't stop it.
If you have used your cheque guarantee card then you can't stop it at all. Your bank must pay it even if you haven't the money in your account to cover it (as long as the amount doesn't exceed the guaranteed limit) |

Once the check has been in payee's bank ,that is considered
cashed and is to late to put a stop payment on it. Contact your bank and ask if the check has cleared and if not ask the cost to put a stop payment on it. You will need to know the amount and
number of check to stop payment on it. i use to stop alot back in
the day. Good luck and be careful of check writing in the future.
ALSO, that might be considered a bad check now and you will
have to resolve the debt with whom you paid it to. OR,they could turn it over to the DA's office and you will be in trouble for a bad check. i hope you have read this thoroughly. |

If you pay bank charges Barclays will charge you to cancel the cheuqe. If your account is consistently in the black they may be giving you free banking. |
