Like they say, you have to play to win, and yes some folks do...some many times. Thats all recorded. But the millions that are wasted...damn what a shame. |

I do think they do, but it is never people close to home. they are always people in towns you have never really heard of and with strange names. sometimes i think it is a hoax, but you never really know do you?No i can't say that i ever did win the lottery . |

Oh they pay alright, but, the sad thing is themillions of people who don't save for retirement cause they think their gonna win the big one. |

Well if you think about it no. People don't win millions of dollars from the lotto because Uncle Sam takes most of it anyway by the time that you do get it. I would say people do make money off of winning the lotto but,I personally don't think that they make millions. And No I have never won the lotto the closet I got to that was winning on scratch off tickets. But,good luck to those who have won and those who want to win. |

NO, I never win. Sure a few people win millions of $ from lotteries, but I stress VERY FEW. I sure would be doing other things besides being on this computer if I would have won. I never win anything. |

Yes people do. The most I ever won was ten dollars, I no longer play. |

Of course, some do. But there aren't many so most of us don't know anyone who has. I surely wouldn't bet my retirement on it. I think you have a better chance of being struck by lightening.
They will definately take in way more money than they pay out or they wouldn't do it. They have to make a profit. The taxes are alot! As much as half! But I would rather thave 1/2 a million than nothing. Not to mention if they take the option to collect it over a period of years, they will have to pay taxes on every payment they recieve. |

i beleive that they do win. And no I have never won. (I read an article about how a large percentage of lottery winners suffer from depression and commit suicide.) (but i would still like to win) |

In this field one only looses the hard earned money.
Since it is not the hard earned money so I do not like it.
No one can flourish with this sort of money, believe me.
Avoid it.
Millions repent while very few think it has made their day.
Majority is mostly correct. |

First they have to pay our Uncle Sam, which takes about 37% of it first, then they get what's left which is usually still a pretty little penny. I've won about $87. Woo Hoo! |

Yes, I think the lotteries really do pay out the prizes. They get very good publicity the larger the prize. The odds are worked out beforehand so that they average person will lose money. It's similar to a casino. They may lose money here and there from lucky people but if enough people play over the long run, they'll make money.
Since it's a negative expected value, I have not purchased a lottery ticket. |

I have never won more than $100 from the New York State Lottery. |

Yes, it happens but do they get ALL of that money? NO because of all of the taxes that are put on the money. Uncle Sam gets a large chunk of the money. |

Yes, but I don't think they get to spend it. Look at Las Vegas Mega Bucks jackpot everytime someone wins they die in a weird accident. Even that college kid that won had took a herion overdose the same night. The weird part about it is he didn't drink or smoke, but wanted to try herion after winning. |

I think that the dreams you have about winning the lottery are well worth the buck or two you spend on it. I have won $500.00 max but know someone who won $1000's It's not a hoax |

I have never won the lottery, and very few people do. You're more likely to be hit by a meteor than to win a multi-million dollar jackpot. I've also heard that many people who have won the lottery squander the money. Your best "bet" in life is to get a good education, get a good job and work hard. |

Never played, people can win millions but can also lose it through not planning. Taxes will eat up a great deal of the money as well |

if you would calculate the diffrence between the money put in,and the money payed out,its most likely to beleive the money is actual payed out, then still about half of it,is profit. |

IF YOU WIN THE LOTTEREY YOU WIN TAXES, PAYMENT PAYOUTS AND HEADACHES. HAVENT YOU READ ABOUT THE PEOPLE WHO'VE WON ONLY TO BE BROKE, IN DEBT, IN JAIL, OR A SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROBLEM? JUST A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO A MAN WHO WON THE LOTTERY HERE IN FLA. WAS ARRESTED FOR THEFT AND DRUGS. HES BROKE AND ON HIS WAY TO JAIL. THE GOV. TAKES A HUMUNGOUS AMOUNT OFF THE TOP, THEN THE STATE. AFTER HIRING A LAWYER TO HELP WITH ALL THAT AND TRYING TO PUT IT WHERE YOU'LL HAVE SOMETHING TO GENERATE AN INCOME TO LAST THROUGHOUT YOUR LIFE YOU DONT HAVE AS MUCH AS YOU MAY THINK. THEN ADD IN "CRAZY" SHOPPING. YOUR GOING TO GO OUT AND BUY ACOUPLE OF BIG TICKET ITEMS! YOU JUST WON THE LOTTO!!!!! I HAVENT WON, BUT DO HAVE A FRIEND WHO DID AND IT WAS MORE HEADACHES THAN PLEASURE FROM HIS VIEW POINT. I'VE PROBABLY BUILT THREE SCHOOLS WITH MY DONATIONS TO THE "QUICK PICK" ON TWO DAYS A WEEK. IF YOU WIN LET ME KNOW HOW YOU FAIR---------GOOD LUCK! |

Depending on how they accept it and the taxes that are paid. Winning a million yes, net is usually less after the taxes, etc. Most people spend it within 10 years. |
