Do you still give to Charities now that money is tight?
During these harder times where we are all watching what we spend, have we cut back on supporting charities?

Hat-A-Tat-Tat!!
i give £5.00 a month to the R.S.P.C.A.....not as much as i'd like to give them...but every little helps.

they desperately need public support & they do such a good job.

Yes. I still give to charities. I give £25.00 a month between Cancer Research, Guide Dogs, IFAW and RSPCA. No matter how hard things are, there are always others worse off.

yes i give to the RSPCA every month and i always donate unwanted items to help the aged.

MSAD
Yes I still give to charities.

They really need the money now. Especially the small local charities. The demand for their services is higher than ever and their donations are shrinking.

I prefer to support the local charities that help the people/animals in my community. I am not able to give much - but I gave more this year than I have in years past.

Although the charities really need money- if you can't give that - they can also use a donation of your time. Most organizations have plenty of work for willing volunteers to do.

Giving to charity is sharing the wealth or good fortune that one has compared to others.

If times are bad for someone in these times, they are worst for others.

Just think of people who were struggling even before lot of us got caught in this financial crunch.

Just share whatever you can and spend wisely whatever you can. Remember by spending wisely and not totally stopping to spend will keep the economy moving and this is good for all of us.

No. They need the money more than ever now.

I've increased what I give to our local food bank. Many of the people in my church have as well.

Times are hard for most of us now, I've considered cancelling the direct debit however the one and only charity i support financially though morally i back several others but can't afford to donate any more money.
However the nature of the work this charity does is invaluable and they need as much money as they can get as such I have no current plans to cancel my donation, though if prices rise much further i may have no option but to cancel several luxuries such as my broadband and telephone line and only as a last resort would i cancel the direct debit to this particular charity. without stating the supported charities name.

I'm a Life Governor of the R.N.L.I. so they have me till I fall off my rudder, so to speak, and continue to support local animal Welfare and Rescue groups. The latter have been particularly hard hit.
My husband continues his Standing Order with MacMillan nurses.

I disagree with what 'Southern Belle' said about donations by the Salvation Army. In September I volunteered to help my local centre in their 'Annual Appeal' door to door collecting of envelopes. The generosity from the public was overwhelming, especially with the current economic state. It turned out that it was one of their best years for the total raised and the money can now be used to help people who really need it and who are perhaps really struggling during this time.

ccchb40
Yes, we still give.

My wife has Multiple Sclerosis, so we still donate. Not as much as I would like...

I saw many segments on the local news over the Christmas holidays where charities like the Salvation Army, the angel trees, and Toys-for-Tots had a significant drop in donations. So, that told me that people are not giving to charities. I am donating some old clothes to Goodwill, but I don't have any extra cash to give to the charities.

honey
I'm still donating to charities.
If funds are low you can always donate your 'Time' instead
