No- I think these companies should build the cost of the gas into the transaction instead. It's a misleading practice. Sounds like you probably buy gas from ARCO...
Their gas will eventually ruin your car. As much as I have disdain oil companies, you should consider Shell, or Chevron instead.
Believe it or not- after 5 tanks or so, you will find that you get more gas mileage out of the slightly higher price of these companies, than the discount gas-water you get from ARCO, VALERO or THRIFTY.
Oh- and try this site for some more info:

If you're a small business owner, you may think yes. I believe the charge for a customer to use their debit/credit card is around 5-7%? I hear American Express is horrible - 8-9% |

I don't people should be charged a surcharge for using their own money. It's illogical. Here in Indiana, though, I only get an extra charge when I withdraw money using my debit card, that amount is refunded by my bank, however. |

If they are going to charge you to use your debit card you may as well use a check. Same principal. Not as convenient. I don't get charged to use my debit though. If it came down to it I would just use cash. |

Nope... that will defeat the purpose of a debit card...
N if there's a fee, I doubt if it will attract people to sign up for it anymore... |

well they have to be charged by companies because they need to make some money but if debit holders have to be charged then i think that it should be a small charge really small |
|

dutch_luvs69
|
sure they should cause the bank is offering a service and some one has to pay for it and that is the cardholder . Get a credit card and pay the bill promptly and there is no charges . |

No, I don't think that would be right. They make enough money off of us!! |

I use my debit card constantly and I never get charged for using it... and I probably wouldn't even use it if I got charged to. Sounds like your bank is a rip-off. |

I think it's a rip off. You should not be charged to use a debit card. The bank makes plenty of money off of you to begin with. By charging for each use, it is quite regressive. |

I always use my check card (sometimes called a debit/credit card) - don't have a debit card. I go into a bank to get a cash advance against this "credit" card (no fees from either my bank or the 'foreign' bank - the one where I don't have an account). I buy gas with the check card, I buy groceries with the check card - never any fees.
I can go to ANY ATM and withdrawal cash and my bank REFUNDS me whatever the 'foreign' bank charges (up to $15/mo.)
Maybe you're with the wrong bank? |

No I do not think there should be a charge for a person to acess their checking account via a card.
Banks make money on everyone elses money, when is enough enough? |

Major banks want to do away with cash and go to plastic only, so they can charge hefty fees for any kind of card you use, People need to revolt. and refuse to use these cards. |

we shouldn't get charged for useing our own money but thats how things work and unless we can come up with a lot of signatures i don't think we can do anything about it. |
