Does £95 p/m sound reasonable for electric bills when only using basic utilities?
I have a gas fire which i use to heat up my living room so there is no electric heaters. I only use my electricity for basic utilities, i.e, shower, cooker, fridge, freezer, washer, TV, PC, etc.

I live on my own in a small studio. I am not there much, and I go to the gym everyday so I rarely wash/shower at home. Also, I eat mainly salads and do not cook a huge amount on the cooker.

My typical bills are thus:-
£18.93 fixed on water

£10.00 electricity - pay as you go meter

£5.00 gas - I am guessing, as I get a quarterly £20.00 or so bill.

I think you are paying way over the odds for electricity mate. Unless you have a 50" Plasma you leave on all the time... I would think about changing tariff/supplier - even these days what you are paying, assuming it is not a huge house, seems quite a lot.

Are you sure the workshop down the road is not plugged into your supply cable?

Miss Typo!
that sounds too high, i pay less than 60 for both gas and electric a month

go on one of those price comparison websites to see about good deals

Sounds fair. It depends on the usage of each device, number of residents, amount of consumption, season, how well insulated your hot water heater is, how long your showers are, how large your home is, etc... It does not sound unreasonable. I wouldn't even shop around for a utility company. It's not worth it unless you are a major corporation.

This is very high. My own bill with similar appliances is less than that per quarter. It is only made higher in the winter by using electric heaters.

The water is an electric heater and is on every night.

ouch - my gas and elec normally come in at £40-£45 a month and thats with my gas coming from a bulk tank which is expensive or so i thought till you told me that

uknative
That sounds far too high; I would get your meter checked by your supplier. If you visit the website below, you'll find a useful Electricity Running Costs Calculator; by using this you should be able get a pretty good estimate of what your electricity costs p/m should be.

fritya56
too high .

andrew c
Just to make you feel a little better i pay £110 a month.

Neil G
Way too high, I pay about £40 - £45 a month and I have electric for everything, water, heating, cooking along with PC, TV, washing machine, fridge freezer etc. And this is on a prepay meter. Oh yeah and my imersion heater for the water is never turned off.

Not at all. Are you leaving the TV and washer on on 24 hours a day?
