I started giving my son chores at 3. He did things like put his toys in the toy box, put his laundry in the basket, and put his dishes in the sink (with a boost up), I paid him $0.25 for every chore, he earned about $1.00 a day. Then once a week we went to WalMart and he could buy a toy worth the money he had. It took a year to get it down pat, but now he knows numbers, and money, and the value of it, and will do his chores (he has more now) and save his money for bigger and better toys

Instead of money I use poker chips. I put star stickers on the chips and when my son does a chore or listened, he got a star. If he received 5 stars we would go to the park... 10 stars MCDs... etc Once he gets a little bit older, one option will be money. But I will try to teach him that we should save, spend, and share the money. |

get a piggy bank... Even if they are too young to understand now, they'll have fun playing with money. If you open the piggy bank in like three or four years, he/she will have quite a bit of money by then, and at that time will learn the value of saving up over time. |

Make him work for food . . . a 2-3 yr old shouldn't have to worry about money. That is just my opinion. You can teach him or her responsibility but money should not be a consideration at that point in time. Rewards for a child that young involve play time or a toy, not cash. Just my 2 cents worth. |

Don't just give him/her stuff. Super-minor chores at this age with small change for work done correctly. But understanding the value of money requires not having a lot of it so that buying things is a challenge, not a given. |

Um, I'd say he's too young, but by the time he's five I'd say a piggy bank. Respecting what he has would be a good start for now. Toys etc. That type of stuff. Let him enjoy his youth! Please. |

Talk over with him When ur in the store such as when he wants a toy or anything take out the money and show and tell him how much it is and how much it cost in short simple words he/she will learn even If not alot or antother good way is to play bank or store with him or her. |

it really is too young to learn. if you give them 50 pennies and 1 dollar they will think the pennies are more every time. you need to wait another 2 years or so to start that up. |
