get a work release form from your school. with you being so young the only place you probaly can find a job is in a restaurant or a movie theater. when you find a job have them fill out your work release form and then you can start work. good luck |

You can do things like babysit, mow lawns, rake, other services for your neighbors and friends. At your age, it's unlikely that any business will hire you. The lowest I've ever seen any business go is 15, and that's pushing it. |

Well, i dont recommend you to do an illegal job as if you are not permitted to do a job at 13 but try to find if someone from your family or friends willing to give you a job. |

The jobs listed/posted are good ideas! My daughters all did baby-sitting for money and they did pretty good. They got other jobs thru word of mouth like walking dogs, shopping at the local grocery for shut-ins, picking up mail and so on. Establish yourself as trust worthy and you're golden. It can be hard sometimes but it can be done! |

In most states, it is illegal for an employer to hire you (child labor laws). You can receive an exemption from the state, then would need to find someone who would hire you. Othewise, you need to get "odd jobs" such as those that are listed, or you could perhaps be a personal shopper (go grocery shopping for senior citizens for a fee), or run your own poop scoop business (dirty but profitable). |

Sure. While baby sitting is the good old standby, I earned money mowing lawns when I was 13. Also, create notecards and sell them. Walk dogs. Water plants for people on vacation. Create "wearable art", those wonderful scarves and tee shirts that are hand painted, and sell them at art fairs. Work as a cashier at a local fruit stand. Type reports for people at school who aren't as fast as you are (don't write the reports -- just type them!). Use your best skills, and see what might be marketable in them. |

My daughter is 13 years old, too. She wanted to work in the worse way but was limited because of the age policy. She went to stores that were small businesses, like privately owned. Try a pet store, florist or your local grocery (not a big supermarket..franchises hire the older ones). Babysitting or tutoring the younger grades are good too. |

You can hire your self. Become a sales girl. Fall is coming and leaves will be falling off trees. Offer to rake leaves up and down your neighborhood. Mow lawns, winter is coming and some one will need sidewalks shoveled. When spring comes some one may need help with planting gardens, and of course, after they have a garden they may need some one to weed it, and water it. Look around you. I'm sure you can find something.
At 13 I had my first job moving sprinkler pipe for farmers. That was a long time ago. I got paid 12 cents a move and at the end of summer I had a paycheck of 15 dollars. I look back on it now and would never work all Summer for 15 dollars but in this day and age dollars are not the same any more.
Look around and find a need. Then fill it. The old lemon aid stand just doesn't cut it any more. Baby sit, house sit, plant sit. Those are all things I have done. Farmers always need some help with this or that. Calves need to be fed. Manure needs to be shoveled. I'm sure if you look around some one can use you. You just need to let them know they need you. |
