nick_lee.rm | Does anyone actually have £50,000 in savings? |
The government are guaranteeing savings up to £50,000. Does anyone actually have that much money in a bank account? I can't imagine anyone having that amount except for people who work in huge companies and earn megabucks. Am I just incredibly poor? Am I really missing out on something here? Am I doing something really, really wrong?
Have loads of people got tens of thousands of pounds in their bank account and I just don't realise it? I think most people have got between £500 and £2,500 in their bank. Am I nuts? |

Oh God, of course there are "some" people that have got that money, and most of the people don't. If you want to save that amount of money, you'll have to work you a*** off, and for a good couple of years my friend. I had almost £6000 at the beginning of 2008. It's really difficult, but not impossible, positive mind, determination, and constant effort. Good luck! |

Some people do because they make enough much money to save it or they inherited it.
Most people do not have that much money.

There are many types and kinds of people in the world. You are not nuts, you are just an ordinary guy. Money does not buy many thinks you need. |

No, I haven't got anything near £50,000. While I have enough to meet unexpected rainy day needs (would that be an umbrella?), it won't take too long to count !!! |

£74,000 here, due to inheritance.
Some just save over time, others £50,000 is just pocket money compared to what they earn and others (like me) get an inheritance.
There are probably other ways, such as winnings on the lottery, but I would say that was about it |

not too long ago, people would buy a house for £100,000 and sell it three years later for £200,000
it was easy to make £50,000 then
a lot of people have made money from property
but things are changing!
also the average salary is about £28k I think |

Actually it's very easy to have £50,000s worth of savings and your not nuts at all, it just takes time to learn to cope with your money and be financially savvy, most of us fall into the trap of buying things we don't really need and living a life where we have to get things there and then, we also have people constantly bombarding us to make us part with our money which can be diffcult to avoid. I have to admit I used to be the same and would spend on pointless things but now I save every spare penny I have and thankfully, due to my working hard over the years I'm living a comfortable existence.
Best wishes :) |
