Yes it can be difficult with a young child at home, the best way to earn an income from home is to set up your own business, but to do that you do have to put up some cash.
Also the problem is to find a business where there is a guaranteed spend by customers on a monthly basis.

Gumsy is absolutely wrong. There are legit work at home jobs, they are just really hard to find. A good resource to find them is SOHOjobs.org. They post real work at home jobs weekly. This is not a guarantee that you will get hired, just a place to go to find the jobs.
The message boards are nothing short of amazing and the almost 2000 members are always helping one another out, not to mention the staff being amazing. |

Dont fall into a trap, there isn't work from home jobs, if there were, then everyone would have been doing it!
Consider learning Cake decorating, you can make loads of money making cakes for weddings, anniversaries, engagements, new born baby ect.
Do something practical at home like accepting pets to stay with you while their owners are away and charge a fee.
Or an at home baby sitter, allow someone to leave their child with you in the afternoon and they can play together with your son and you get paid.
Don't ever pay a penny for anyone to give you work at home.
Another option is leaflet distibution or catalogue distribution. You can load your son in a pushchair and have a walk around the neighbourhood distributing catalogues and you earn commission from sales made.

Work from home on the net, most are scams. But few are not. Hard to find which ones that are not scams. However, with those legitimate opportunities, you can't hope to be rich overnight :) You must do your part enough to get to the goal you desire.

I don't know your qualifications, but there are a number of jobs that allow you to telecomute, as our company calls it.
Beware of the "Take surveys for cash" work from home, scams. You have to pay them for a list of companies that pay for surveys. You have to contact the companies your self.
My sister works from home in the yahat insurance business, but she went to an office for years before they allowed to work from home.
