Does anyone know of a way to cash a personal ckeck without having a bank account?
My in-laws wrote me a check from out of town, but I don't have a bank account.

Go to wal-mart, they cash checks. All you need is your soc, and another form of ID, like a drivers license.

xamayca.com
present the check at you in-laws' bank with your ID.

OR
if you are sure the funds are guaranteed to be there, and you trust someone with a bank account, then endorse (sign) the check over to them, have them deposit the check and give you the funds.

If you are married, get a bank account.

You said the check is from out of town, so most likely there is no branch where you live, so you could not cash it at their bank.
Other 2 options, sign the check over to someone who has a bank acct, who is willing to cash it for you, or open up your own bank acct with the check. Chances are the bank will frown on that, Personal checks are a risk. let alone when they are from out of town. They will probably hold the check for 5 to 10 days till it clears before you can have your money.
Or, have your relatives send you an american express gift check, or travelers checks, most bank will cash them no problem ( up to a $1000.00 usually without an acct.)

Check cashing stores will cash it for about 15% of the check!!
Maybe you can sign it over to a friend? Just sign on the back, Pay to the order of so&so. Check with his bank 1st though!

Go to the type of bank they do. (Like BB&T) Take 2 photo ID's and sign the back of the check on that little line with the X. They will put your fingerprint on the check at the bank. They might cash it at another bank but they might take some out.

ds
sign the check and give it to a friend, that has a bank account, he will sign it also and his bank will then cash it.

ms_constance
ask someone with an account to cash it for you, while your with them, you'll have to endorse it by signing the back. or just get a free savings account. no responsibility

dont think you can, sorry lol

Cloud9
Do you have a friend or boss who might have the amount of the check in cash? If so, you can write on the back of the check, in the signiture spot "Pay to **** *****" then sign your name on the next line. Where I put the stars, you write your friend's name - don't write stars. Then give the check to your friend at the same time he or she gives you the cash. Then your friend can deposit the check in his or her back account as if your in-laws had made it out to him/her instead of you.

You can sign the check over to someone who has a bank account and they can cash it for you.

eva diane
There are those check cashing places that take a percentage of you check as a fee to cash it for you. You would have to look up the ones in your area. It would be better to go open an account at your local bank if you can.

lovenvybrt
Go to their banks branch. They normally have no problem cashing them.
