there is a patent on it, but overall, it would never work.
you get held up at an atm, you have to enter your pin number 7468, backwards and act like nothing is wrong. are you going to be able to think coherently enough to figure out what you backwards pin is before robber suspects something? no. and what if your pin is 1221? sucks to be you if you're robbed!
banks use another device to catch criminals, they're called "cameras". they work. |

At this time it is not true, but it is actually a patented idea. several states in the US have tried to pass laws to make this become standard for ATM's but have always been shot down. to quote one representative of the bankers association," it's hard enough to remember your PIN number forwards when there is a gun to your head, never mind backwards." For a good laugh serveral managers at the bank I work for got together and took turns putting thier PINs in backwards to demonstrate that it does not work. Maybe some day those laws will pass, but not any time soon. and as for the machine keeping your card after 3 times, that is a bank specific protocol. some banks you can put your atm number in wrong all day and nothing happens. At my bank we just block your card out for 24 hours, so no one can use it. |

I know this is not true, when I recieved my pin number from my bank years ago it was a number that is the same frontwards and backward ie 5225. I Never had any trouble. |
