Yes and it's why I hardly carry any at all. I use my debit card and I labor over most purchases that are "wants".
You have to be disciplined and really think about the purchase. Is it necessary? Will you really use it/need it? Can you afford it? |

I know the feeling, but you really need to get a grip on the situation before you land into trouble. There are a lot of tips on the web site below that will help you. Start now and stop the rot - you may well need money desperately at some time in the future - in fact that is a certainty.
Best of luck - hope this helps. |

Set up a high savings account before your next pay day, that you can't dip into without losing your interest i.e no withdrawals for between 1-4 years. Then have a direct debit of a set amount each month to come out of your usual bank account that won't leave you searching under the sofa cushions for food;and hey presto in a year or two you'll be thanking you lucky stars you came to Yahoo answers. Be strong you won't regret it! |

I have the exact same problem as you. My friends say they are baffled at me every time I get paid which is every two weeks I'm doing well for a couple of days but after the weekend I return just as broke as I was before and have to stretch out like 40 bucks till my next check comes. LOL It's pretty bad and it wouldn't be so bad but I spend most of the money on needless things. Good luck with your saving. I'm going to try and do the same it's horrible to have to bug the same people to borrow money till my next check comes and just to stay like that. It's worth it so much more to save and not have to do that and to have money when u really need it. |

I used to have this exact problem. I finally came to the understanding that the only way I would ever be able to save money was to get it out of my hands.
I decided to open a DRIP Plan and send off my extra cash every month. It was the best decision I ever made. It has been 22 years since I opened the DRIP Plan and now I have a very large amount saved, and when I began to see positive results, it inspired me to invest in other areas. It has all worked out very well.
Check out a DRIP Plan or some other investment vehicle that gets the money out of your hands. It is the only thing that would have worked for me.
Best of Luck |

money burns a huge hole in all of my pockets, but i do save at the same time. i just set up a direct debit from by bank account where my wages go, to a savings account, for a set amount each month to be transferred the day after pay day. that way i dont really miss the money and i kind of pretend its not there, and i try really hard not to touch the savings account till christmas arrives! try it - it works! |

I have my savings allotment directly deposited, which makes it easy to save. If it is in my checking account its fair game. |

not in my pocket long enough to burn a hole, good luck with the saving up, not something that I find easy, how ever much I want to do it. |

I am good at saving, if I have a goal. If there isn't a definate goal though, it is easier to just buy something randomly. |
