manc red | EBay!!!! should be rip off bay? |
Has anybody else been riped off by someone on ebay. And after contacting ebay for HELP, they just brush you under some carpet ( out of sight out of mind ).I paid someone (almost said a lady) £80 of my daughters own money for a console, from a "POWER SELLER" someone who sells thousands of things. I paid the money into her account, I had her name, bank, account number, sort code and ebay did nothing about it nor did the police. she had riped off hundreds of people, but still ebay love her and her kind " not me" Additional Details Philip H.
I have tried the papers and they sre not interested. |

you have to watch out for those kinds of people.
you can't buy everything off of there because people will rip you off, you need to try and read their policies, try and get some people insight who purchased things from them and stuff like that to see what they really do is accurate.

Whenever I buy anything worth more than £20 I always read the feedback that's been left, especially the negative. If there are loads of withdrawn I will not use that seller. Keep going with the dispute. Did you use paypal? you can dispute through that as well I think.
If you get no joy with a dispute, escalate it and get phone numbers of managers (of ebay) and bombard them til they do something.
If you have paid and not received the goods, this seller is comitting a crime. If it comes to it go to the small claims court. My friends threatened this when she ordered some botts that didn't turn up. The seller kept saying they were posted but would never send the proof of postage. After my friends threatened with small claims, the boots arrived within 4 days! |

Yes, I have been ripped off (in Australia). I found EBAY to be very good about it. I bought some DVDs, paid the money in good faith and never received anything. I lodged a dispute with PayPal as I had paid that way. I ended up getting some money back from them, but not the postage. There are ways of reporting items not received, etc. Go through the console and you should see where to go. There is a live online chat with an EBAY representative and that is useful also. Good luck. |

seems about right unfortunately.
ebay don't make any money at all from the buyers, only from sellers so they like to keep them sweet.
if you'd paid by paypal (owned by ebay!) then they would've helped you.
have you tried asking your bank for help? i'm not sure if they can, but it might be worth trying.
make sure you leave a stinking negative and follow up comment if the seller leaves a negative for you.
so sorry to hear your daughter lost her money - are you sure the police won't help? trading standards? CAB? all worth trying especially as you have all the details on the seller.
p.s. might be worth taking her to the small claims court - ask CAB for details |

That's why ebay advise against paying by bank transfer. Paypal may cost a bit more, but it's safer. |

YES!!! I sold my laptop on ebay and never received my money because the buyer sent fake pay pal e-mails. I hate e-bay and pulled my account because they didn't want to help. I talked to live chat support and they couldn't give me a straight answer. I also tried to report the user name of the scammer and the sent me an e-mail back on how to change my password. They are clueless idiots.
watch out for what they call "a traditional Nigerian Scam"

I sympathize with you. I once had a problem not receiving what I had ordered and paid for. The seller had actually shipped it to me, but it did not ever get delivered to my address.
After 5-6 emails, and several weeks time the seller sent me a duplicate item as well as her sincere apology. I gave her positive feedback for the transaction, and she did the same for me.
But I have never been totally ripped off on eBay. I would suggest that you follow the dispute procedure to the letter and contact the seller and eBay repeatedly in order to resolve the problem. Save all of your communication, or attempts at communication to show your local authorities when you file an official police report of theft too.
After you have filed an official police report, inform eBay and the seller of the case number. That might get their attention if nothing else does the trick.
Good luck to you. I hope you are able to resolve the problem. |

eBay has a good reputation for handling disputes like this - did you follow the steps they require? Did you post a negative review with comment? Sellers are usually sensitive to this. However, nothing much can be done if a person builds up a good reputation then keeps the money from a last set of sales and pulls out - I exchanged messages with a guy on what he was selling, but when I went back 6 months later, he had disappeared with many bad comments from buyers. |

eBay warns you not to make a bank to bank transfer to pay for your auctions because there is no protection if the sale goes wrong. You should always use your credit card or paypal. If the seller doesn't send the item, if you use paypal you get your money back. Sorry you got ripped off. Have you tried to contact the seller? Have you given it enough time to post to you? Sometimes the Post can take a while to get to you. Maybe there is a back order at the seller's end. Try to get their contact information from eBay and call them, all sellers must list a phone number with eBay. You can get it if you have a transaction with the seller. Ask eBay Live Help to help you find the contact information for your seller. |

I can't give you advice on what to do, but I can sympathise with you because I too have had a couple (not many, thank goodness!) bad transactions and very little help from ebay.
With the new policy changes it's just gonna get worse I'm afraid, because the power sellers will be all that will be there. The small seller will be a thing of the past. That's why I support the strike!

I would read over ebays terms of service. And then I would send a letter from an attorney to Ebay to try and hold them responsible. They may argue that they are "improper party" as they only facilitated the transaction. However, they did not take the proper recourse. So you could argue that. Or you could subpoena the information from Ebay so that you can file suit on the other woman. I would also try and find out other buyers that she has dealt with, see if they had a negative experience. If they did, then I would file a class action suit against Ebay for negligently allowing a crook to participate.
If you can find out who the woman is, by pressuring Ebay with threats of a lawsuit, then you should sue her. There have been people sued before for this, I've seen it on Judge Judy. And I believe someone posted a link to that. So there is legal precedence on your side.
Collect as much information about other buyers that you can. Try to communicate with them. There is power in numbers and Ebay does not want a bad rap. So if you all threatened a class action suit, Ebay would probably ban the woman (which is an admission of guilt) and then you can sue both Ebay and the woman for actual damages. Ebay might be sued for punitive damages. Talk to an attorney, if it is worth it to you. |

so what , you thought you were going to get bargain at the expense of a company being robbed but in the end it was you who was robbed , well i think that is justice , stop funding the drug trade and then maybe you can use ebay without being forced to listen to people like you who can't belive you have to pay for your lunch ! |
