I am 18, a senior in high school. I recently opened a checking account with my parents as "cosigners"? I don't know if that's what you'd call it. Anyways, they are transferring money online out of my account into theirs. I need to make it so I am the only one who can access my account ASAP. Please please help me. I am banking with Wells Fargo.
To clarify, they can access my account because I am on their list of online accounts because they're name is like the second account holder. They aren't getting on my online account. Thank you so much.

Note the following :-
You may not close the a/c of your own, signatures of others will be required to close it.
You can draw maximum of the money leaving the 'minimum balance'
you can open another a/c and keep the money in it
(Perhaps) you may instruct the bank to stop transfer of funds to any other a/c.

I dunno, but go to the ATM right now and withdrawl all of your money (hide it if need be?), then call tomororw and close out your account and change banks and don't put them on the acct. Or log in online and change your password. OR look for a 1800# that might still be open...
IF you do go withdrawl, leave your minimum amount needed to keep the acct open in there until you close the acct. Usually it's like $50 or something just so you don't have ill effects. |

Did you ask your parents why they were taking money from your account? It is possible that something else is going. Since your parents are joint on your account, it could be the bank automatically taking money out of your account to cover shortages in your parents account. It could even be someone else fraudulently pulling money out of your parent's and your account. |

Go to the bank and talk about it. I am afraid there is not much you can do with this account. I have this kind of account with my son - I can transfer money in and out of his account at any time (well, in my case, it's usually INTO his account not OUT of it, so I guess he doesn't mind). My account is the primary one, and his is like a secondary on my account. I have much more power over the accounts than he does. It's probably like that with your parents as well, even though different bank. You certainly can open a different account in your own name though.
Talk to your parents. Is there a reason they are doing it? |

Just go close out the whole darn thing and start fresh with your own. If your parents dont want to close it then take your name off of it and go get your own! |

You should be able to walk in to the bank and remove them. If they say you are unable to=find out what needs to be done. Good Luck!!! |
