Sarah Rose | Financial Help? |
Today, I have had a long think about my financial situation. I am young and have no savings since I blew them on the most abstract and useless rubbish as a teenager.
I am going to start saving by putting £40 of my salary in a high interest savings account (if I can find a good one) per month.
Another step I need to take is pay off my credit cards. I have two and I earn more than the limit of both put together but I end up spending all my money by the end of the month (again on random stuff that I don't really need. I do pay off my credit cards in full as soon as I get paid however, as soon as the remaining amount of my wages has gone from my bank account, I end up using the credit cards again to buy stuff.
I have no other debt or overdrafts or anything. I have a few monthly outgoings like rent, utlities and gym membership etc which are all essentials.
My question is: Does anyone have any tips which would help my financial situation, so that I don't have to use the credit cards ag |

Spend some time tracking your money each month and seeing what you can stop spending it on. I suggest my clients never buy anything the first time they see it, but rather wait a day or so to see if they are still thinking about it and then make a decision. It is good if you pay off your credit balance each month, no interest charges. Try going for two or more months without using your cards at all. I have found that that works for most people, just simply use cash, and when you are out stop spending until the next month. Of course this means you will need to plan ahead to have enough money for food etc. at the end of the month. |

Try the Dave Ramsey 'Baby Steps'. I've learned to live on less than I make and to use cash and debit cards to pay for things. I cut up the credit cards a year ago and I have not used one since. |

Play the Power Ball
If you win, just pay with cash for everything.
Good Luck
And remember me when you win, I could use a little pick me up.
Thanks |

How old are you, at some point we must understand and practice self discipline. Always pay yourself first, as a financial coach, I always advise my clients to have 3 accounts. Account #1 Emergency fund at least 3-6 months of living expenses, #2 short term 5 years or less for a big purchase, a well planned vacation, or a nice down payment for something, and # 3 a retirement account, as long as we keep living we must prepare for the future. Not all of my clients have the three accounts in the beginning, but after working with them, and helping them get on track, I can honestly say, that the hardest part for 98% of them was just getting started. A plan can be started wi as little as $50 a month. Pay the credit cards off, and ALL you need is one. Start working on becoming DEBT FREE & FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT!!!! |

Put the cards away in a safe or locked away in a desk drawer...Use the cards for emergency ONLY. And...truth be told...you only need ONE card for that. |

Pay them off and cut them up. You won't be able to use them after that. |

Debt Is Dumb

I will also recommend Dave Ramsey's baby steps. I will resist the urge to go into a detailed explanation. Just go to www.daveramsey.com and read about the steps.
I did it three years ago. I don't owe any debt and my financial situation has changed dramatically. You seem to have a made a good start but you need a little push. The Baby Steps will work. |

No put about 75% of it in your bank a week if you do that within a month you'll see a big differnce |

Sounds like you have already figured it out. You have to stop wasting money. That's most people's real problem who have finanical difficulties. All of that wasted money adds up to a lot over a month's time, usually enough to put someone in a completely different financial situation. |

Just cut on your expenses and DISCIPLINE yourself into not using your credit cards while you are trying to get it paid off. You did good in saving money. Just imagine the reward of getting out of debt....

If you learn a musical instrument and get decent at it you can play it on the street for tips. Then take those tips to purchase a weapon and rob a bank. |
