shonkamur | HELP!!! Please serious advice!!? |
Please help. I have been offered a new job with a great company with great prosects. The problem? Well, they really want me but because I dont meet the criteria for the job I applied for (1 am ONE GCSE short - ONE) for the first 6 months I'll have to work down. The pay is £3000 lower than what Im on at the minute but I know when I get past the first 6 months my salery will be great. But, I have a mortgage and bills to pay and things will be really tight if I take this job.
What will I do??? Additional Details Just to let you know - I have my application form in and have been offered this job - So i cant 'lie' about my qualifications and Im currently in employment. To be honest, Im thinking I havent been offered the job I interviewed for. I understand I dont meet the criteria but surely thats their problem for missing this on my form? |

If they think you are capable of doing the job they should pay you the going rate. Sounds to me like they are just trying to save money. Go back to them and explain your circumstances and if they still want you then great but if they dont then you cant really afford to take the job anyway so you have nothing to lose x |

6 Months will soon pass, if you don't take it you'll be kicking yourself in 7 months from now. |

Take the job, but try getting a mortgage payment holiday.
And the agreement in writing from them about the pay increase |

Like you said it's got great prospects and if your money will go up in 6 months anyway - I'd go for it!!!!
You might regret it if you don't, best of luck xx |

I would advise, taking the time to talk to your family and ultimately your lender about this opertunity. Most lenders will happily discuss terms on mortgages, and in some cases will arrange holiday periods, so that your repayments can be deferred for a short period. Its important to note that this will effect your loan period and could have other knock on effects. So discuss it with your lender, after all its in their interests to keep you a happy customer.
I hope that helps, take care

A £3000 deficit is quite a lot to live with for 6 months, and I bet it'll feel like a very long 6 months, but I think you should take it. Look at the bigger picture. you'll have 6 months of scrimpingf and saving and ghaving to make sacrifices, but after that, like you say it gets better and the prospects get better. In a few years you'll look back and be glad you took the opportunity. Really tight for 6 months then a better life, or stay as you are? Go for the job!! |

Tight is fine. You can live off tight for six months. Get yourself on a written budget. I know 250 a month is a lot (assuming you mean the job is 3000 lower per year), but you can cut corners by not going out to eat as much, or just adjusting your lifestyle. It'll be worth it in the end. Sell some of your stuff on ebay or where ever to bring in some extra money. Get a second job for six months.
If you want this job then you can make it happen. |

take the job, six months is nothing out of a whole lifetime, you'll probably regret it if you don't!! |

hmmm i think i would tell them to stick the job up their A*SE I can't see how 1 GCSE can be worth £3000. What a load of cack! seriously, tell them no thanks - if they want you that much they'll come back with a better offer. |

LIE!!!
they will not check your GCSE's.
If you have already told them then its up to you but if you can afford to take the pay cut id do it. |
