MS.veronica | HOW do you CONTROL your spending? |
I am trying to pay off my credit card bills, in the process I find my self wanting to go on shopping sprees. I'm not bad in the sense that I spend thousands but I do spend money that would make my life easier if I saved it.
How do we live in our means. I do budget shop, I go straight for the clearance section, but I just don't find myself getting ahead in life...
What do you suggest? |

I understand your plight well. You've probably tried creating a budget and tracked your spending to it. You can even do this for years and not be able to meet budget. It can be frustrating. You've probably read all the advice, and it's still no help. The problem is how to CONTROL the urge to shop.
Here is how we finally solved that issue (my wife has your issue). You need to find another outlet that gives you the same gratification that shopping currently gives you. For us, this was a horse. Now, she spends all her time with her horse. A horse is expensive, yes. But, it's not nearly as expensive as the thousands of dollars a month in junk that would come home from the stores - always with the excuse that it was on sale, or that we needed it for this or that. Most of it goes straight to Goodwill - some without evening opening the bag. Now - she gets the gratification from the horse - and has no inspiration to shop. |

well if you have too, you will find a way. i lost my job about three months ago. that will make you come up with creative ways to control it. I suggest you take a look at your credit card statement and realize, that all the "stuff" you bought over the last year will probably take you six or seven years to pay off.
now take a look at how cluttered your house is. do you need all that stuff.
i hope i don't sound like I'm preaching. my wife and i are going through the same thing you are. actually since i have gotten laid off we are so much better with money because we actually have to budget. we have paid off one credit card and have three to go.
good luck. |

Try seeing how little you can live with. Cut cost in every department including groceries and bills. |

You need to cut up ur credit cards. DON'T let yourself be tempted to use them.
Set up a weekly planned budget for ur self. set a little aside every week for shopping. |

You must do a monthly budget and live within that budget. The budget must include a monthly amount for "unexpected"....for example, your car needs a new battery. |

I just pretend I don't have any money. Everyday, no money. I pay my bills and groceries and then thats it. After while, you'll get the hang of it. It has really worked for me and actually is easier than it sounds bcuz its better to "think" I have no money than to "KNOW" I don't have any money. Good Luck! |

Stop going out shopping PERIOD. If you don't HAVE to have it because you ABSOLUTELY NEED IT, don't waste money on it. |

It takes practice controlling yourself. If I need to shop then I stick to used or sales. Just remember is not controlling those urges that got you into debt. Picture yourself debt free and living the good life, now you gotta work towards that and the way towards that goal is by skipping the shopping sprees for awhile. |

first take your hand out of your pocket.
make a list of wants vs. needs, and remember some people wake up every morning with the goal of selling ice cubes to eskimos at twice the price. stop being a sucker and helping them to get ahead and start helping your self first. people want things, well money is a thing and is worth hanging on too. it has worked for me. |

When you get a pay check, save 30%, bills 60% and spend 10%.. You can't work all your life without having fun with your money.. If you shop that much you prob have way to much stuff.. And if its clothes you prob don't even wear half of them! Take them to a clothes exchange store and get some money. Pay off your credit cards with it! |

Try investing! I joined one company that allocate the investment to Uranium, it pays really good return. I got daily interest of 2% of my investment, and it's 7 days a week! so in a week, if you invest 100USD, you will get 14 dollars!
You can withdraw your investment anytime you want, and the minimum amount to invest is only 1 dollar! So you don't have to worry about your investment. Right now, I have invested USD250, and I got 5 dollar a day without having to work hard!!
Don't know where to start? you could just follow the process below:
1. Open new e-gold account, you could register for free at https://www.e-gold.com/newacct/newaccount.asp?cid=5266993
2. Credit your e-gold account by trading your dollar to e-gold using e-gold trading merchant, e.g: http://transxpress.e-forexgold.com/ or http://www.moneycentralmarket.com/
3. Go to http://www.klikdisini.com/safeinvestment and register new account, minimum deposit is USD 1 dollar.
4. Just wait and see, the money will generate profit itself, if you invest more, you could get more profit. well, there's a saying, spend money to make money, rite? ok, try it out and see for yourself, you won't believe your eyes ;) |

Spend less than you earn.
Budget or create a "Spending Plan."
Set a written plan on how much money you can spend each month for bills, shopping, etc. Don't go over. If you don't have the money, carry that budget over to the next month and use it then.
Good Luck! |

There are many ways to go about doing this.
1. Self control. You'll need to learn to control your spending habits. Don't buy anything you want on impulse, take a few days.
2. Cut up your credit cards and use cash. This will allow you to see how much money you have to spend (can't spend what you don't have).
3. Create a budget and stick to it. Record all your expenses to keep track of how your expenses are lining up with your budget. This will take some time and practice.
4. Get a savings account without a debit or credit card to the account. Have a percentage of your paycheck go to that account. This will make it harder for you to spend that money. When an emergency arise you'll have some money to take care of it. |
