Have you seen the news that a branch of HSBC in Poole is only going to offer face to face bank services to customers, they must have savings over £50,000 or a mortgage over £200,000 etc, poorer customers can still use the ATM though, gee thanks, I do not bank with HSBC but if I did I would be closing my account, how long before other branches or banks follow suit

Take your account to a building society. There are still some that haven't becomes banks. |

wow... that's awful.
HSBC is among the best foreign bank in my country but they don't turn down low income earners. credit cards are now given free to many customer too, including fresh graduates.
I bet if that happened in the UK, sooner or later, their branches in elsewhere of the world might follow similar practice. |

And so they should, and many need to bear in mind that banking is a privelege and not a right! Banks are a business and as such, need to make profits for their shareholders, Foo is quite correct, no one puts questions on here tearing apart people who buy business or first class seats on planes or trains.
The UK masses seem to think they have a right to everything going, well wake up, the rest of the planet has to pay for many things you seemingly get for free. I am in Spain and I pay for my banking, and quite rightly so, and because I pay, I get good service, how do you think the bank staff get paid?....if its not to your liking, go elsewhere, thats why you have freedoms of choice |

I closed my account at HSBC 2 moths ago, it was only my second bank account. Nowdays I hardly need to go to the bank, everything is online or send cheque by post so I do not need go to a branch,so it is not bothering me at all. Also they have branches allover the world but they do not have any connection with UK branch at all. So the slogan The world local bank is not really appropriate. |

They are not the Government bloaks....They are a business and have every right to do as they please..... Go to another Bank......... Last time I looked you were still a free country right???
Stop whining about capitalism.... Do you shop at discount stores???? How dare YOU save money. Why not pay more for the same thing.... That's what you are asking HSBC to do........It's COST them money to sevice customers in a branch who are not profitable.....

The height of snobbery! Who the hell do they think they are? There's plenty of other organisations wanting to take your money. Hope all HSBC customers close their accounts to show their disapproval and open accounts with competitors. In all honesty, I could probably be one of their customers at Poole, but I wouldn't want to be. Everyone should be treated equally, whether they have £1 or £1m. |

Banking is so competative I think this bank will loose customers because of this of this tactic-the banks have to pay attention to all of their depostitors everyones money counts just because they dont have alot of money today does not mean they wont have money tomorrow,the bank is loosing out and I would take my money out of this bank after a stunt like this-I work at a bank all of our customers get treated the same-with great respect! |

Actually, I wish they would roll it out throughout the country. I'd love to be offered that sort of service, and I think I'd use it.
What's wrong with getting a superior service when you pay more? You don't have a problem with people buyinh first calss seats on planes and trains do you? What's the problem with having a premier banking service?
The problem is that people believe they are owed somthing in some way for nothing. Have people not heard of working hard so you have money to buy things? We aren't communists! |

Goes to show money talks eh!!!
Personally i would move banks and it's not just in Poole our branch and i'm sure it's all over are not allowed to use the branch over lunchtime, purely for the commercial users and should you use the bank at lunchtime, you know in your lunch break like normal people your charged £10......
