It has got to be a scam. I got the same email on the maxima for $2998. I responded by asking if my family member could look at it since she lives in new york. I was quickly told no for the same reasons. I guess the old adage goes for this. If it looks to good to be true, it probably is. |

We dealt with the same guy, David Brogren, and it is definitely a scam. He sent us the exact same information and we are glad we found this info here, before we lost any money with this fraud. |

subject Re: Nissan Maxima
mailed-by aol.com
The 2005 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE is located in Valley Cottage NY, and it is in perfect condition, with no need for additional repairs, no scratches, dings, special marks whatsoever. It has 33K miles and the VIN is: 1N4BA41E25C844365. It has a clear title ready to be signed and notarized on your name. I have the pictures hosted on the net and you can see them at: http://s277.photobucket.com/albums/kk48/NissanMaxima11/?start=all
The price is $2,998 including shipping costs anywhere in the continental US. There are no other costs regarding this transaction. The transaction will be closed only through a 3rd party and this way we will both be protected. My time is limited due to my job in the army so I decided to use a service from Pivotal Payments. To begin the transaction I'll need your full name and shipping address. I will forward the details of our transaction to Pivotal Payments and then you will receive an invoice from them. The car will be shipped insured to your location with DAS and you will have 5 days for inspection.
Thank you,
Grace Foster |

We called Pivotal Payments after seeing a car on Craigslist and they confirmed it was a scam. The person posted a very cheap, yet nice car on there and used the excuse that they were being deployed soon and would use Pivotal Payments to make the transaction. They would ship the car to anywhere in the US.
PP doesn't deal with individuals, only companies that set up accounts. Please don't send anyone money without doing your research. |

I ran into the same thing with a 2005 mazda 6 on craigs list. "Paul Cooper" is being deployed to Afghanistan and needs to sell the car. Blue book has it as being worth $10,000 in poor condition and he only wants $4300. The car is supposively in New Jersey. He too said that in order so that we are both protected he chose to go through pivotal payments as a third party and sent a similar email to the one above. |

This is crazy!!! I'm dealing with the 2005 Maxima guy now. Says he is in the army and does not have time to show me the car. There is also a lady selling a 2003 Infinity FX35 on craigs list for $2998.00 She said the car is already at the shipping location and I cant see it til I pay. Said she uses Ebay for payment. Way too good to be true. Can you say SCAM!!!
Thank god I found this site before I did anything Stupid. |

I also contacted David Brogren and even told him I have friends in Memphis (where he said the Odyssey would be shipping from) and wanted to know if they can see the car. He said his job doesn't allow him time to show it and to let him know if I'm still interested since he has other buyers. I just told him no since I can't see the car. The ad was actually flagged as spam on craigslist. "If it sounds too good to be true it usually is." |

Same story..David Brogren use the story of deployment in Afghanistan...
" The car will be shipped trough DAS, they will deliver you the car in
front of your door in maximum 3 business days. Since my brother in law
works at DAS he promised me that it will cost me nothing to ship it to
you so the total price including the shipping fees is $4,300.Once with
the car you will receive the title, the keys, a bill of sale in your
name and signed by me, all the service reports, the owners manual and
also all the receipts available.
Let me explain you how the Pivotal Payments process works.
The process works something like this:
1. You send the payment deposit to an Pivotal Payments representative.
2. Pivotal Payments will confirm me that you have made the deposit.
3. I will ship the car so you can Inspect, test and make a decision if
you will keep it or not.
4. If you will not get exactly the same car that you have viewed in the
ad, and also a clean title you will receive all your money back from
Pivotal Payments.
5. If everything is ok Pivotal Payments will get the approval from you
to release me the funds.
If you agree with this process please let me know your full name and
address and I will forward the details to Pivotal Payments."
I
I'm glad i found you guys here |

Hey guys I must say that unfortunately I fell for one of these scams. The only difference is that my scammer told me that his son was killed in Iraq and that the government only paid them $4850 in life insurance. The company they used was door to door movers and they came from Detroit. I learned a very expensive lesson and wished I had looked a little deeper. I found out that the car is registered to some one in California yet the car was in Detroit. So I definitely agree with every one else here. If it looks too good to be true, then it is. |

John G I received the same email from the lady with the maxima.
It has to be a scam no questions asked. When I asked her if I could come look at it she completely avoided it. I would avoid any situation that deals with pivotal payments. |

I was interested in the same Nissan Maxima that another person mentioned dealing with Pivotal Payments. I asked them why they were selling it for so cheap and they said they were involved in an accident and lost there hearing. If you lose your hearing you cant be in the military! I also dealt with another seller with a similar story. I noticed that only a few hours after the ad is posted on craigslist, they take it off almost so there is no evidence against them. Another thing I noticed is that, when you email them they make a few grammatical errors that sound like they are foreign. Only buy a car if you can meet the seller in person!
One thing I just remembered, is that both scams were just under $3000. I'm thinking that possibly they penalty for scamming might be higher if it's sold over that.
Somebody should turn this guy in. |

I also got a e-mail from the women selling the maxima, big red flags went up when I saw the price. Also there are 2 service men selling a camry and a acura one stationed in croatia and the other in afghanistan All of these are on craigs list. Be careful |
