Try buying homebrand or savings brands for a few products-some of them can be better than the more expensive brands. Keep your electrical appliances off unless you're using them to shorten bills, shorten your showers and only use washing machines and dishwashers if you must to save water and water bills, and really think about what you would do with something and why you want it before buying. |

Don't open any credit card accounts. It's a plastic loan and who needs it?!!!
The only cards you need is one Visa and one Mastercard.
And another good idea is to fill up your gas tank to full. Refilling it on the lowest line is a waste of conserving on gas. The needle goes down faster and you spend more on refilling to only half a tank. When your gas goes to half full from full, fill it up again, that way, you are not short on gas. It also saves money.
Get rid of your cellphone or use it only for emergencies. You don't need to pile up on minutes when you don't have to. Call from your home phone. |

Rent DVDs. Stay out of stores. Cut down on your driving. Eat at home more. Cut back on either your cable or direct TV. Quit using your credit cards. Cut back on buying presents especially Christmas. Make things last. Use coupons especially at the grocery store. Save more through on-line banking like ING. Direct. Reduce your junk food buying. Quit smoking, reduce or quit drinking. Get rid all of the bells and whistles on your home telephone service. Reduce magazine/newspaper subscriptions. Check the Internet for more ideas. |

don't buy newspapers every day, you can usually read one in coffee shop or at work.
unplug appliances. Electricity is still being used although appliance isn't on.
coupons
bring lunch or at least whatever you're drinking for the day.
1.25 for soda from machine vs. 2.50 for a six pack of soda at supermarket.
consolidate your bills onto one credit card. Save a stamp.
buy clothing that's washable as opposed to dry cleaning.
don't carry a lot of cash. You tend to spend more when you carry more.
eat at home more often
don't go to the movies, rent from blockbuster/netflix. the month will cost the same as one trip to a theater. |

Try "Compacting" - it's a practice where you don't buy anything new (except for food and health products). Everything you need, you either buy used, recycle, make yourself... it's really very easy and a lot of fun (even though you wouldn't think so). I've been Compacting since January and I can't believe how much money you can save.

have your bank automatically withdrawl some of every check into a savings account, that is unlinked to your checking account.. invest in something with automatic withdrawls, like a mutual fund or index fund or through the U.S. treasury by collecting savings bonds.. cut your expenses, eating out, etc.. etc.. the only way to save money is through discipline, its just to tempting to spend, but if you can resist you will thank yourself later. |

Don't buy small things that cost very little, such as food, accessories, etc. Because they end up being the things you spend the most money on, so when you're planning to buy yourself a small latte, resist yourself and go home to make coffee.
And, don't waste your money on some small thing that is really cheap because add it all up, you've spent a lot on useless items.
Aim for something you really wanna buy that's expensive and work on saving towards it, even if you don't want it. |

When you're going to buy something, think about if its a necessity or just something you want. |
