I was with lloyds tsb up until last year and I still have a loan with them. I've been trying to find out how long I have left to pay but they don't know who I am. The payments are still coming out of my new bank account and I know I still have a good few payments left.
But since they don't recognise this can I get away with just cancelling the direct debit? |

They know your account, not you personally so if you don't pay up they will down on you like a ton of bricks, believe me.

I would call your current bank and ask them for the reference number accompanying those direct debit payments from your new account - there will be one because Lloyds have to allocate those payment somehow when they get to them. Then call Lloyds and give them that ref number and tell them you need info about the loan to which it relates. The worst they will get you to is to write to them if they can't be sure you're who you say you are over the phone. |

They know who you are and this payment will be made one way or another from you. Payment made or Death is the only 2 thing that can save you from these people anyway contact the bank because late fees are rolling in like crazy on this account Take Care and Good Luck |

If you cancel the dd the interest will still go on the debt owed. And they will come after you. non-payment is theft ! |

Sorry, I don't know the right answer for this but I can tell you what I would do. I would first go into a Lloyds branch and have a chat with a consultant about it. If they can't find you then suggest cancelling your direct debit and see what they say. If they were still being unhelpful I would then ask for the consultant to put in writing that they can't find you on the system and I would then cancel the direct debit. If they contacted me after this point asking for money I would set it back up again but if they tried charging me any late fees then I would explain the situation and show or post them the consultants letter and ask for the charges to be removed.
