yes i have been caught, a woman came knocking on my door with a warrant to enter and read me my rights, then i had to sign that, she then asked for my bank details to set up a direct debit over the phone, never again totally humiliating, they will catch up with you sooner or later |

I agree it's a rip off but if you get caught without one you will wish you had just got the thing.We got caught about 12 years back and got fined £120.00 if i remember right, they also gave us a time limit to get the licence.It's not right but it's the law and how will the BBC pay people like Johnathan Ross 6 million a year if we don't cough up the money we can't afford.Set up a direct debit it costs about £11.00 a month much easier on the pocket |

Unless you disconnect the cable/aerial/satellite when caught you will have to pay,and do not forget if on the PC you watch real-time TV tou will still be stuffed,I have an ex sister-in-law who has never had TV in her home,she gets a visit every three months to see if she is viewing ! |

it is something you have pay like it or not unless you get rid of your telly altogether years ago we got fined for not haveing one and did not pay the fine and my hubby nearly went to prison we went back to court and they sent him down i had to buy him out |

we never used to pay it. they was afraid to come into our areas because they was always threatened and chased out by the paramilitarys but since the ceasefire everyone has to pay it now. they aren't afraid to come into the area anymore. |

I've heard that the detector vans cannot pick up a signal from the flat screen tv's, but remember most of the women jailed in this country are in there for non payment of the tv licence. Something which I think is appalling. Is it worth the worry that they might catch you out?
Why not try to get up a petition, you would have a great deal of support for at the least a great reduction. |

yes when i lived with my mother, she didn't pay the bill, even though it wasn't my debt and i was only 17, they read the riot act......"you do not have to say anything......" to me because i was the only one home at the time.
They apologised afterwards about the procedure and said it was just a formality.
It turned out she had paid the bill that Morning in the end but she would have gone to court if she hadn't. |

Hey, yes im the very same, had letters too but its sooooo expensive eh? Anyway the tv licence men came to my house last week!!! they were very polite andall they did was took some personal datails, details bout my tv, and bank details to set up a dd for £36 every 3 months. Sorted. If you dont co-operate you can be fined £1000. Not a good thing when you aint got a lot of pennies, just call them and set up a dd, then you wont need to worry!!

no ive never paid it. you know why?.......well how many people do you know that have a job catching people for not paying. you never see ads in the paper or job centre for this kind of work and you never hear of people whove not paid and been caught.
Plus i blame the bbc for the damn thing anyway.why the hell should we pay for repeats and crap? most of us have sky and virgin media now anyway so we dont watch the crap we are "legally obliged" to pay. |

I haven't paid mine either in the 18 months i have lived here, i already pay for virgin cable and only watch 3 or 4 channels which i pay for through them. I dont watch the BBC, or listen to BBC radio. I've had a few letters but they odn't know my name so there threating to prosecute dear the occupier.i don't answer the door unless i know im expecting someone or something to arrive and even then a have video intercom system so know whose at the door. |

One reason why there is 'rubbish on the telly' is because lots of criminals don't pay their licence. If they did there would be a lot more money available for funding top class programmes. |
