Nope. My spouse and I have "separate" accounts, which I think is a good idea, but not "secret" accounts. Those could cause problems. |

I have a savings account book that he does know about, I had it before we met 12 years ago, and it holds my signature. I'm not going to share it, because my mum always said, "you need something to call your own, for your own personal things". He gets his fair share of money. |

When we got married in 1959 - he had a Bank Account with Lloyds and I had one with the, then, National Provincial Bank.
We eventually decided to make both joint accounts - the Lloyds being named as Mr. N. & Mrs. V. A., and the, now, Nat West being Mrs. V. A. & Mr. N.
Neither are "secret" but we handle our own money/incomes and each account has different priorities. It also means that if I want to buy something just for me, I don't feel I am taking it from "our/household" money.
That doesn't mean to say that I don't squirrel away odds and ends for special treats (birthdays, etc) which I don't want him to know about till the proper time. |

Personally not myself.
But I did once know someone who was in an unhappy relationship,who had a savings account,she called her 'Running Away' a/c.
Last I heard was she did manage to get herself and her son away,and are now very happy.
One of her ex's problems was a gambling habit,if he had known about her secret stash,he would of undoubting got a hold of it, and gambled it away. Not a nice person at all. |
