Have you had a debt free Christmas?
I have. I spent around £300 pounds on presents and probably another £200 on food and and drink. Fortunately a few months ago I received a double figure windfall, cleared all my debts, bought a car and actually have savings. It feels good that I haven't wiped out my bank account like I do every year this time of the year.

If I couldn't celebrate the festive season without going into debt, I wouldn't even consider it - and that's the truth.
What a pity more people don't think like that !

Yep. I'm very careful about not spending beyond my means. I've seen too many people get into debt because they have credit and store cards. I only buy what I can afford and pay off my credit card in full on the rare occasions I use it.

I have a debt free Christmas every year, if i cant afford to buy something there and then, then i save up to get it instead of getting into debt.

Yes, I was saving money each month for Xmas and will do so again.

It helps that I'm single with no children.

Lucky you, unfortunately not everyone was so fortunate, including me.

Yes. There are 8 of us in a Kris Kringle, so I only buy one main present, and something small for each grandchild.

This year I bought less food than usual, and there is still enough there for another week or two. Fewer people home this Christmas, though. That is why the food has lasted longer.

We had a christmas club fund through our credit union so we only spent what we invested in the fund and then paid cash for the food and such. Our goal for the new year is to get rid of the remaining credit card balances from emergency needs and build a savings plan for Christmas 2009 and other wants/needs to avoid going back into debt again. Only $200 left on medical bills from 2008. We are hoping for a new car in the next year or two. If you set your goals, you have a better chance of achieving them!!!

Your lucky.

No I spent as little as possible a bit sad but I know jan going to be a long month before I get paid.

oh well

Highly Favoured
Yes I got some bonus and treated myself to a new watch, bought my husband a watch as well for his birthday and bought some food. I don't owe my credit card anything as I usually clear it in full. I paid all my bills. I did not touch the money on the credit union at all. I did not even do much things for the house as I normally do. I gave some cash to a needy friend and finally, I have some cash in my purse to tide me over until I get pay again. God is good.
