I once had a debit card stolen and abused. Unless your friend acted unreasonably the bank should take the cost of this. Don't worry :-) |

some banks would repay you if they offer such protection. the other option is to find the thief, prosecute and get restitution from him. |

hi. my bank card got cloned. i had just got paid and they rinsed my account. it took 5 long angry7 months before barclays would refund my money. the thiefs also used a machine that was an external machine with no cctv outside. the coppers was sympathetic but the bank wasnt. we fought long and hard to get the money back and in the end we took it to the papers and it got published! guess what barclays paid us back soon after. |

The first thing they will do is investigate where this money has gone and at what time and bank it was withdrawn from. If they suspect it as a fraudulent debit they wil have you in to discuss it further. Wether you get the money back or not is down to them. |

The banks are very good they normal take the cost. The only thing is that it could take some time before getting your money back. Good Luck! |

well..maybe. i worked for a credit union (in the states) and if someone made an unauthorized transaction on an account, the account holder could fill out an affadavit for unauthorized entry. it was basically a legal document stating that the account holder absolutely did not authorize the money to be debited from the account, under penalty of law for purgery. usually the credit union would credit the account back. your friend should talk to the bank and see if they can suggest anything. i would also close my account and reopen another immediately. |

Happened to my niece in Ireland this year, her savings for her first born. She got it back took a while, but she did, so don't worry about it, red tape and all that, you know how it is. x |

depends on how it was taken out and what bank your friend banks with some banks credit the account within 7 business days while they investigate what actually happened |

What you should is get the money from someone then put it back into account you took it from and the person who didnt know it happened unless you told him. |
