Hi,
This is something every person does when he/she not earning on his/her own OR money control is under parents hand. Need not worry too much on this.
=> Honestly go to your parents, accept what you did was wrong (inspite of telling that no to buy anything without asking..but you still bought it...!)
=> Politely convienence & justify that, how much it was important to buy this phone (you should tell them in such a way that the item what you have bought it is usefull for them also...).
=> Tell them that you will not repeat this mistake. (You will try to avoid such kind of situations in future as much as possible....!)
And give them a break..to continue..!! Your conversation should continue on this topic depending on their reactions for above statements of yours. If it is getting too much argument situation just stop..and don't talk.."Your facial expression should show that, this mistake happened without your knowledge and apologise me...!"
It will hardly take 1 or 2 days..(if it is really becomes serious)..and gradually it will come down.
Don't worry...!! All the best!! These are all common in human being's life & you are not a exception...!! You have not done any big mistake..!!
Thank you,
Regards,
Ravid |

well i think if your parents were going to get you one then they wont get mad. they might even be happy that you took responcabilty for your stuff and also they dont have to pay for it if they do get mad then remind them off the good things so i think you should tell em |

you must tell
they will eventually
find out
better coming from
you than a balanced check |

how old are you? if you're still very young, you should've discussed and reasoned with them. They're going to find out anyway either when they have to start paying the bills or when you begin to congest the line. |

I would remind them that you are aware that you've gone against their direct instructions but that you've bought the phone. And I would do so before the phone arrives.
Worst case scenario, express the remorse I read in your post and chalk it up to infantile desire that got the better of you.
They'll maybe take your card away and ground you for a little while, but they'll be secretly pleased that you stood up and took your punishment like a mature person and that will act in your favour over the long run.
Good luck. |

If you are trying to appear responsible, play that angle. Tell your parents that you knew they didn't have time to shop for a phone for you and that you wanted to help by shopping yourself. You ONLY had the debit card to use and it was a good buy for $20. Tell them you are sorry you disobeyed their request to NOT use the debit card but that it was ALL you had at the time to purchase the phone. Tell them you will do better next time. You are learning to be a responsible young adult. You need their help to see what you did right and what you did wrong and try to improve. |

Well obviously you know the answer before even posting on here. Your parents told you not to buy without asking and you went ahead and bought anyhow...
If the card is truly your own card why should they be mad? |

They naturally will be mad, but the best thing to do is tell them SOON or it will get worse. Tell them you know you messed up, and you won't do it again. Parents love it when you take responsibility and don't ke up stupid excuses. |

how old are you? and who's money is it in your debit card account? if it's yours (meaning you earned it.. it's different from them giving it to you coz it's technically still theirs if you're like a minor or something), then you shouldn't worry about it.. but if they only gave it to you for a specific important use, then you should have asked before spending it.. |

Depends how old you are and who's money you spent. If you are one of those 19 year olds who thinks he's 11, then you need to grow up. If you are underage and spent their money then yea you messed up, acting impulsively. |

Yes, you disobeyed your parents. That's bad.
Now you know. |

yes i think what you did was really really bad you should tell them right away befor it becomes too late!! |

just tell them straight up. maybe if you tell them that they never acknoledged you from the begining, then they will change that next time. Admit to them that you made a mistake, and you feel bad about it and you are sorry. |

Write a letter and leave it for them while your somewhere else, like work or a friends house. That way that'll give them time to cool down. Or you can tell the nicer parent apoligize and let them know how badley you wanted the phone and that you were afraid that someone else was going to get it. It's your debit card, they shouldn't be too hard on you. |
