AVOID CREDIT CARDS !
Get started with a savings plan.
Doesn't matter how small you start.
It's the saving mindset that you are cultivating as much as the $ in the bank. Learn to enjoy saving as much as spending (this is not as hard as it sounds - both are mindsets)
Good Luck!

Start a payroll deduction plan at work. Usually if you don't see the money it's easier to save.
If that doesn't work try the same thing where you bank.
If that dosen't work borrow money from a bank or any commerical lending place. Then Buy a CD and pay the loan back as quick as you can. This is the worst choice.
Saving is a matter of self discipline so put it some place where you cannot get to it eaisly. |

Start a separate savings account and if you have a job with direct deposit, pick a set amount to go in every payday. Then ignore it! NO MATTER WHAT! And if at all possible, skip getting credit cards and always pay with cash. It makes you remember that you're spending hard earned money. Just signing a slip can distance you from the price you're paying. |

I usually leave my money at home when i go out and take only what i know i will need to survive! Then you dont spend anything extra since you dont have it! Its even better if you have a checking account cause then you cut up your card and the only way you get money is go to the bank, and that can be a hassle |

go into your bank tell them you want to start saving open a new account and heve the bank set up an automatic withdrawl for your pay days. the will take the money and put it in your savings account which you will not have a debit card for! Or i have my job take off 50.00 per pay more for taxes that way when i file my income tax i know i have money coming to me. approx 2000.oo every year! |

If your job offers a CREDIT UNION use it or DIRECT DEPOSIT this way you can save without seeing the money. Also open a savings account and a checking account, put a certain amount every payday into the savings account, start small so that it does not seem overwhelming, such as 10 to 50 what ever is more comfortable for you. And be patient. Do not touch that money for anything. Good Luck |

Write a check to yourself every month when you pay your other bills and put that check into a dedicated savings account.
Consider it "gone" like you would the car payment or light bill.
Then figure out how much you need for various needs like tires for the car, gift-giving, etc. and have a second savings account to deposit a second check into each month.
The goal is to get into the habit of saving regularly. It will add up quickly and you'll be so much more at ease.
Best wishes,

open an savings account at a separate bank than you normally bank at and have your bank electronically deposit a set amount every so often.
make sure the other bank is out of the way and don't get a debit card for that account. |

Get a bank account and put all the money in it that you don't want to spend (ay you have $30 and you want to save $25 of it then putthe $25 in the bank account) in it. And tell your self that you don't ever want to spend that money unless you HAVE to spend it and spend it on something that you really need. Thats waht I do and now I have more money thenI've ever owned in my life at once and it's only been a few months that I have beensaving it! |

Theres a program at my bank that takes a predetermined amount out of my checking account and transfers it to my savings account each month. I can only withdraw money at certain times. Any other time I'm charged a penalty fee. It's a good program for those of us who have a hard time saving money. |

Set a budget up that lists your monthly "required" expenses and your monthly income. That should help you know how much you could theoretically save and from there go into the "non - required" expenses and see where you can cut spending from. |
