i bought an item of ebay on thursday and payed the seller through paypal. I got an e-mail this afternoon from the seller saying that because she is from bugaria her bank account won't accept my payment and will i pay the money into her friends bank account as she is staying with them. This item supposedly is in west yorkshire, what would you do would you pay the money into the friends account??

NO! I would immediately forward the email to Ebay and let them investigate this situation.

Report this immediately to both Ebay (on their report line) and to PayPal both. Sounds like a scan & the seller will be thrown out of ebay. Using PayPal safeguards your money in the event the item never arrives (as it did once to me--and I got the $ refunded). Always use a secure payer like PayPal on ebay. |

No, her listing should have contained a notice saying that her bank account won't accept payments from anyone outside of where she lives. It sounds as though she should have became more familiar with bank and shipping policies before she sold an item to someone who's payment she supposedly could not accept.This could be a scam, I wouldn't pursue the purchase and I would contact Ebay to tell them the situation. Forward the exact message you received from her to the Ebay staff immediately. Good luck.

check your paypal account and see if it has been finalised (cos the seller might be trying to con you). if not cancel the payment and then report them to ebay. Good luck ! |

If in the auction the seller stated that he would accept Paypal and that is how you paid, you are under no obligation to pay any other way. That was a condition of the contract that you two entered into with eBay.
eBay warns about this particular situation as a scam. This does not pass the sniff test. Meaning it smells fishy.
Even if and especially if you really need the item I would report the person to eBay and get Ebay to mediate.
Also did Paypal pay the bank in Bulgaria? If that transaction has already taken place you should get your money back, if possible, before even considering giving the seller any more money. Also if the money was paid to the Bulgarian bank you have completed your end of the contract and the only thing left is for the seller to deliver.
Paypal also has processes for getting your money back that you might want to investigate.
Do not let the seller hold the item hostage while making demands that you are not liable for. |

Beware of this!!!!! Contact Paypal resolution team and make a complaint. The seller agreed to sell her goods via Paypal payment and is breaking a contract. Ensure you have not lost any funds through Paypal for this item and make no more contact with the seller - deal only through Paypal/EBay resolution. |
